Hello friends! For my today’s blog post I decided to continue exploring DIY pencil colored backgrounds. Check out my first blog post in this mini-series HERE.

CARD DETAILS
I looked through my stash in search of large, outline images with little to no detail and came across these leaves from the Modern Peonies stamp set from WPlus9. You can also use leaves from other WPlus9 floral sets or try using completely different images altogether.
Once again I prepped my black cardstock panel with an anti static powder tool and stamped leaves in clear embossing ink making sure to overlap them a bit, but not too much. Next, I covered my panel with Gold embossing powder and before heat setting it used a small dry paintbrush and cleaned away any embossing powder where my images intersected. See my previous post for more details on this technique.
After heat embossing I picked 2 colors of green pencils from my Polychromos set from Faber Castell – Dark Phthalo Green and Emerald Green and started coloring my leaves. I wanted the base of the leaves to be darker, but I didn’t any darker green colors, so I decided to use Dark Indigo to darken the colors and create shadows.
Coloring process went rather quickly and I can’t say it took me longer than 30 minutes. I am really enjoying this technique at the moment and I’m already planning my next card.
Once my coloring was completed I adhered my panel onto an A2 white card base. To create a sentiment I heat embossed So Very Grateful in same Gold embossing powder onto a piece of white cardstock and foam mounted it onto the card. Have fun stamping!

I can’t wait to make a card using this technique on black paper! I watched your video on another card using this technique. It doesn’t look like you use a white pencil as a base when coloring on black card stock. It looks like you just go colored pencil right to black paper … and get vibrant results!! As always, thank you, Yana.
This card took my breath away.
