I have discovered a new passion of mine – watercolor. I am not a real artist and I can never create beautiful water-colored (or any -colored for that matter) paintings, but I can cheat a bit and create pretty cards using stamps and various color mediums. Today I’m re-discovering Faber Castell Art Grip Aquarelle Pencils and I’m combining those with stamps from Altenew.
I find coloring to be relaxing, therapeutic and just fun. And I don’t even have to use whatever I colored on a project, I can simply enjoy the process and see where it takes me.
I have recently been playing with the gorgeous Peony Scrolls stamps from Altenew and created the card you see above. I used a mixed of pink, aqua and gold colors for this project and added a lot of white for a very light look.
I am sharing a detailed video tutorial on Altenew blog as well as my Youtube channel showing two simple ways to watercolor using watercolor pencils from Faber Castell. You can watch below or on Youtube:

I did not use watercolor paper for my project as I was heat embossing images with rather thin outlines; watercolor paper usually has texture which prevents embossing from being perfect. Since I wasn’t doing too much coloring and color blending Neenah Solar White Cardstock worked beautifully for my project. I colored my peonies using pink and aqua pencils from Faber Castell and cut the images out using matching dies.
I finished my card by adding a beautiful trim from Altenew as well as a heartfelt heat embossed sentiment.

Both of your cards are beautiful Yana. I actually have identical gold stickers as you have used on your card. I must try this as well just for fun. Yours is so lovely. TFS!
