Yana Smakula | Video! Bright and pastel cards - two different looks with identical supplies

Hi everyone! I’m excited to join Simon Says Stamp for a Hop To It Blog Hop today! We are all sharing projects using the wonderful Hop To It release which includes stamps, dies and more!

I created two cards using almost identical supplies and I experimented a bit with different color mediums to achieve a very bright and bold and a soft pastel looks. I used the Hand Lettered Encouragement set. I absolutely love the You Are Remarkable sentiment, I think its perfect for many-many occasions, and there are lots of other great encouraging sentiments in this set; I also really like the big and bold font, I think these sentiments would look spectacular when stamped in black ink and this is actually what I’m going to be doing today for one of my cards.

The second stamp set that I have is called Artful Flowers and I really like these outline floral images. There’s lots you can do with them, you can stamp the outline in black and color them using matching solid images, or you can first stamp the solid image in a bright color and than stamp the matching outline in white ink, I think that would look very beautiful. You can also use the solid images on their own, and the same goes for the outline images, and you can of course color these using markers, pencils, daubers – really just anything! Stunning flowers and you can never have too many flower stamps.

  1. What a great idea to use a bold sentiment as your background! Your cards are all so pretty in the bright or pastel colors.

  2. I love the cards. It is great that you showed us how different they can look just by switching up the colour palette… oh theoptions with these new releases are endless.. I also dab off my brush in my hand when colouring, my kids laugh at me but now you have given me proof that it is. A real way to blot 😉

  3. The first card with the black back ground and the bold flowers is awesome. Not so much the second card but I could see me trying the first card. Thanks.

  4. Both cards are so well done. I love the background text stamping you did. Looks great behind the beautiful flowers. Well done.

  5. Thanks for the video on creating these cards. They are both beautiful…love the backgrounds and the bold colored flowers and the watercolored flowers.

  6. Wow two very beautiful and different cards, each equally stunning Yana. Love that black bold stamped background with the vibrant flowers to catch the eye.

  7. Hi there! I really like the pastel card! Thanks so much for demonstrating the chameleon pens! Great video 🙂

  8. Both cards are remarkable! Love the background words and lovely flowers! Thanks for sharing them on your video!

  9. I really love both the bold and the pastel cards, thanks for showing the markers as I e been wanting to see them demonstrated.

Like what you see? Drop me a comment! Thanks!
