Hello there! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and so you’ll be seeing more and more love-themed projects from me here on the blog. Today I’m sharing several pastel Valentine’s Day cards or Love Notes that feature simple no-masking stamping. Today’s video also show how to fix little stamping mistakes with the help of colored pencils.

I’ve filmed a video tutorial where I am sharing everything in detail. You can watch it below or on my Youtube channel.

CARDMAKING SKETCH

I love to use sketches as a starting point for my cards. I often sketch out ideas in a notepad and later follow them to create my cards. I made a sketch for the cards I’m sharing today and I’m hoping you’ll find it useful. Pin it, save it, share it, use it!

CARDS DETAILS

I started working on these cards by stamping a beautiful heart-shaped wreath from the Fresh Cut Wreath set onto white cardstock panels (I used a round wreath from this stamp on a set of different cards recently, check it out for more inspiration). If you’d like to have a faint background stamped like I have done on some of the cards here it is best to stamp the background first and than do the rest of the stamping.

I used interlocking rope design from the Dockside Backgrounds stamp set (I recently used another image from this set to complete a set of encouragement cards) and stamped it using WPlus9 Pure Color Fairy Dust ink onto my paper. I love using this color as it is very pale, almost invisible, yet it adds a lot of nice “texture” and detail to the background.

I mentioned recently I love to use pink, yellow and gray for my Valentine’s Day cards. I went with this color combo, but instead of using vibrant colors I picked out very muted, pastel shades. I used Silver Lining, Hayride, Wild Mango, Shell Pink and Little Piggy Pure Color Dye ink colors to do my stamping.

Since I was stamping several panels at once I used my Misti stamp positioner for perfect placement and alignment, although you can stamp this using a clear block.

I used same colors of ink (pinks + yellows + gray) to stamp sentiments.Whimsy Alpha set was used to stamp bold “Love”,” Adore” and “Kisses” and Hand Lettered Thanks as well as the Fresh Cut Wreath to stamp “For You” and “You”.

I trimmed my panels down and adhered them flush onto A2 top folding card bases made out of WPlus9 Coal Mine cardstock. First time using this gray – love it! Its very dark so a white/gold/silver pen will be needed to write a message on the inside.

I embellished my card using clear droplets in two sizes and added tiny white dot details to flower centers.

Since I messed up some of my stamping I used my Prismacolor pencils to quickly fix the problem areas. Watch my video above to learn more. However, if you stamp the background first and later add wreath and sentiment you shouldn’t have any problems like I did.

  1. These are so delightful. I also appreciate your sharing when things don’t go as expected and “fixes” you use. I also wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed the cards you create using stamps you already have, i.e. the giraffe, the bear etc. It is so tempting to continue to buy the latest and not make use of what you already have. So thank you.
