I’m excited to share my third Glimmer Hot Foil Plates collection for Spellbinders – Yana’s Blooming Birthday. I worked on this line in the second half of 2020 and I’m anxious to finally see these designs come to life. The collection is now available at select retailers, for example at Simon Says Stamp, and on the Spellbinders website. There’s is also a project kit available with a video tutorial.

YANA’S BLOOMING BIRTHDAY

Being a long-time cardmaker, I cannot resist a gorgeous foiled accent on my handmade cards. Glimmer adds such beautiful, exquisite effects, it instantly elevates your project and draws the eye of the recipient in.

“Wow, did you make that?” Is usually the reply I get from people I gift my cards to. When designing the Blooming Birthday collection, I wanted to create a set of plates to be used together that would allow us, cardmakers, to make beautiful, one-of-a-kind greeting cards for many occasions beyond birthday celebrations to wow and astonish the recipient.

The collection includes everything you might need – from a set of must-have sentiments to beautiful candle background, stunning florals, and more! I hope you’ll enjoy creating with my latest Blooming Birthday line with Spellbinders!

CARD IDEA

I wanted to introduce this collection by sharing a Hot Foiled & Copic colored slimline card. Slimline is all the rage right now, and while the products in Yana’s Blooming Birthday collection weren’t designed for the slimline or mini slimline size specifically, they can certainly be adapted to these measurements.

CARD INSTRUCTIONS

Follow these instructions step by step to re-create this card:

• Cut white cardstock panel to 3 1/4″ x 7 3/4″. Find the center and foil the Blooming Floral Background plate 4 times from the center out using gold foil. I made a drawing to illustrate the best way to foil this:

• Color the background with Copic markers. I used my usual go-to colors: B97 for the background; YG01, YG03 to color the leaves; BG11, BG13, BG15 to color the flowers.
• Use a white gel pen to color the berries.
• Foam mount background to a slimline card base cut to 3 1/2″ x 8″.

• Foil diamond in gold foil on white cardstock using the Floral Diamond Frame set. Cut the diamond shape out using a coordinating die (included in the set). Foil a sentiment in the center of the shape, I foiled “Thank You” from my new set of sentiments, Yana’s Special Sentiments. Foam mount diamond onto the card covering up the oval opening in the center.
• Foil sub sentiment “For Your Help” in gold on black cardstock and cut out using a banner die from the Yana’s Tiny Sentiments set (or use paper trimmer). Foam mount sub sentiment onto the card.
• Embellish card with Fashion Gold dots.
