Hello, friends! I am back sharing a closer look at one of the new collections from Spellbinders – Quilt It. I’ll be honest with you – I have a love-hate relationship with this particular line. These dies require a LOT of patience, so if you are on the lookout for a quick and easy to make project – these aren’t the case. On the other hand, working with dies from the Quilt It collection proved to be very therapeutic and relaxing. It felt like coloring in a way, coloring with colored die cut cardstock pieces. Rather fun!
I’ve started working for Spellbinders in August 2016 and one of my duties as an in-house designer is to create projects that go on the product packaging. The Quilt It collection by Lene Lok proved to be rather fresh and unique and it ended up being one of my favorite collections after I had finished playing with it and making cards. I’ll share most of the cards I made using products from this collection in a mini series here on my blog.
Previously, I shared similar looks at Spellbinders May 2017 Die D-Lites and Market Fresh collections. Please note, nobody from Spellbinders asked me to share about these products, I simply find them awesome and great for cardmaking.

CARD DETAILS
If you enjoy quilting the names of the dies from this collection will sound familiar to you as they are all named after various quilts. Quilting isn’t something I do, so I looked up each and every name of the quilt online to get an idea how to put the pieces together when I was making these card. To create this particular project I used Half Hex Quilt dies and die-cut a number of pieces out of several colors of cardstock from Simon Says Stamp.
I went with Smoke, Fog, Sunshine and white. A classic white, yellow and gray combo. The beauty of these dies is that they cut a number of pieces at once, so the die cutting part doesn’t take long at all, it’s the assembly that requires time and patience.
You can also die-cut these out of patterned paper and have loads of fun assembling the pieces together, but I opted to go for a simpler, cleaner look.
To create the pattern and adhere all of these piece in place I covered a piece of white cardstock with strong double sided sticky and adhered each piece one by one (this is the part that took the longest). To finish the edges of my panel I used the largest A2 Matting Basics A die and cut it out into a rectangle in my Platinum 6 machine.
For my sentiment I went with “Amazing” from Mama Elephant Word Defined stamp set and stamped it in black. I foam mounted my sentiment onto my panel and foam mounted the latter onto an A2 top folding card base. Lastly, I added white enamel dots using Nuvo Drops in white.
