Spellbinders | Navy & Gold Love Watercolor Cards. Video

PROJECT DETAILS

Navy and gold is a classic and timeless color combo in my book. It always looks good. Add a bit of messy watercolor – and you’ll end up having something really beautiful. I used Hero Arts Intense Black Ink and first stamped Feather pattern onto Arches Hot Press watercolor paper. I used hot press and not cold press paper as it is very smooth and is simply perfect for stamping.

I decided to use Distress ink pads as my watercolors and quickly colored sections of feathers using Peacock Feathers, Evergreen Bough and Broken China. This feather design features flowers and leaves so you can really have a ball coloring it. Since I stamped an entire pattern and not an individual image I went with speedy and rather messy coloring here.

I also heat embossed same feather design in Gold embossing powder onto Navy cardstock. Again, I created a pattern for one of my projects.

There is a coordinating die available for this stamp (as well as other stamps in this set) and so I used it to die cut a few of the feathers. I shaped them with my fingers and adhered onto my 4th project.

The sentiments for all 4 of these cards came from one fantastic Valentine’s Day stamp set from Hero Arts – You Are My Happy and were all heat embossed in gold.
