Spellbinders | May 2022 Clubs – All About Stitching!

The May 2022 Clubs from Spellbinders will have you reaching for colorful threads and stitching needles and wanting to stitch all the pretty things. This is certainly the feeling I have when I look at the new designs. Almost every single Club kit this month is about stitching. If you haven’t jumped on the cardmaking + stitching wagon yet, this might be just the release to push you over the edge.

SMALL DIE OF THE MONTH

Here are the cards I made using the May’22 Clubs. First up Small Die of the Month – this is pretty floral Hello, very similar to the floral Thanks that was released last year – still available HERE. This new die is designed for A2 cards, the size of the letters is the same as in the previously released “Thanks“.

While this die isn’t too versatile (you really can only use it one way), it surely is very pretty. I used various colors of thread and stitched both leaves and flowers using at least 2 colors to add interest. I also used 2 colors of cardstock for the letters to add more color to this cheerful card. You can add a sub-sentiment to customize this card further and turn it into a specific occasion if you want.

LARGE DIE OF THE MONTH

The Large Die of the Month is also a stitching one but it offers a lot more versatility. The main die is “you” which is a stitching one featuring a simple floral design. It is also the same in size and design as the letters in the upcoming Stitched Alphabet collection and it complements the collection nicely. The rest of the dies in this Club are modern word dies and shadows.

I stitched the little flowers in yellow and since these were flowers I felt I needed to add some leaves – I added some created using the Mini Blooms & Sprigs die set. Here I used the word “Thanks” without the shadow element. I also added a strip with diagonal foiled stripes made using my Diagonal Stripes glimmer plate and Matte Silver foil.

Here’s another card made using the same products – here I used the “you” without the shadow, but added “Happy Birthday To” using both letter + shadow dies.

I stitched the “you” using white thread and decorated the “you” with pretty flowers in yellow and pink.

GLIMMER HOT FOIL KIT OF THE MONTH

The next Club I’m in awe of is Glimmer. Despite the fact that this is a foiling Club, Spellbinders managed to introduce a stitching component here as well. This is a pretty butterfly design with various inserts – foiling, die-cutting, and stitching. This card features both stitched and die-cut butterfly inserts.

This card also features the Embossing Folder Club for May, the embossed design resembles stitching:

The next card features a foiled butterfly – you can see the butterfly design is the same, simply the inserts change up the look of the finished piece:

I paired this butterfly with the die-cut “Hello” from the Large Die of the Month and an Embossing Folder Club for May.

CLEAR STAMP + DIE OF THE MONTH

Even the Clear Stamp & Die of the Month for May feature stitching. The stamp set’s design depicts a stitched color wheel (OMG!) and spools, which in fact are very practical. I plan to transfer all of my thread onto these spools, not that I have a lot of thread left after all of my stitching projects.

I heat embossed the front of the spools in Gold embossing powder and stamped the NO__ in black ink. I also die-cut 3 additional blank spools and adhere them all together (4 pieces total) to make one sturdy spool for my thread.
