Hello friends! I wanted to share a card and video tutorial I shared on Spellbinders’ blog some weeks ago. I think its one of my favorite recent projects, I love the color combo and the overall design of the card.

CARD DETAILS

I wanted to create a unique background for this card, but I also wanted it to have some texture. I could have stamped the anchor image repeatedly using one of the clear stamp sets I have, but I decided it would be best to die cut a number of anchors and adhere them onto a card. Before cutting I added a layer of adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives to make my die cuts sticky. I started adhering anchors from the center of my sheet and moved out to create a pattern.

Once the anchors were adhered I trimmed the panel using the largest die from the A2 Matting Basics B set and matted a slightly larger panel cut out of yellow cardstock behind it.

The sailboat was die cut out of canvas, I’ve been wanting to try and die cut fabric for my cards for quite some time now. I adhered in onto a circle cut out of vellum and foam mounted onto the card.

For the sentiment I used a beautiful Let Hope Anchor Your Soul one and heat embossed it in white onto black. I also added a wooden peg and several cork stars.
