This year Spellbinders has one die that is really a must-have (I love and use many of their dies, but this one really packs a punch). And not just for the Holiday season, it can be used all year round. I’m talking about the Kaleidoscope Plaid. It is a clever little layering die (less than $20), that has 3 layers to make all sorts of beautiful plaid backgrounds. The die cut it makes is small, it will only cover 1/4 of an A2 card, but cut 4 of each and you have a plaid background.
This is the 4th post from my impromptu “It’s a Christmas Season” mini series here on my blog. See the 1st post here, 2nd one here, 3rd one here, 4ht post is here.

CARD DETAILS
I went with a traditional red, white, and gold color combination for this card. First, I die-cut all of the layers to make my plaid background. I used regular red along with glitter white & gold cardstock. Doesn’t it look beautiful? I adhered the layers together using glue and foam mounted the 4 panels to A2 white card base to make the background for my card. It would have been easier to adhere panels onto the card using glue, but I like to add dimension to my projects.
Next, I foiled and die-cut a circle using the Christmas Essential Glimmer Circles set, the plate I used foiled little “x x x” – so cute! There are 3 plates in the set and each foils a different design. I also foiled the word “Christmas” in gold foil on Brush Gold cardstock and poinsettia in red on red and also gold on Brush Gold.
To complete my sentiment I die-cut “Merry” from the Bold Type Merry Christmas set from red and gold mirror cardstock. I adhered red die-cut onto gold and offset slightly to reveal a gold shadow (you can see it on the photo below).
Next, I adhered “Merry” onto the card, added that gorgeous foiled poinsettia on top, and a “Christmas” banner. I foam mounted the circle onto the card, again to add dimension.
Lastly, I embellished this beauty using Fashion Gold dots from FSJ and used the same dots to create a center for the poinsettia. These gold embellishments make the perfect flower centers!
I love the result! I have another, similar card to share using these supplies, but done in blue and silver. I’ll share it soon.
