Spellbinders | How To Use the Poppy Die. Video

Hello friends! This week I continue to share a look at the products in my new Yana’s Poppies Collection with Spellbinders. I’ve already shared a How To Use Poppy Background Plate & Stencil video. In this post, I’m sharing the How to Use Poppy Die. As always, I have several examples for you, I hope they inspire you to create with either these products or products you already have in your stash.

HOW TO USE THE POPPY DIE

The Poppy Die is similar to all my previous floral die sets (Peony, Magnolia, Anemones, Poinsettia). There are 2 dies in the set – a shadow die and a detail die. The detail die is the main one you’ll be using, it gives the flower outline and also die-cuts the petals and petal details. I love cutting this from white cardstock and coloring it using markers or ink blending, as well as colored cardstock. The shadow die creates a shadow and looks fabulous when cut from vellum, but it can also be cut from various colors of cardstock.

I ink-blended the petals to add color to the poppies on this card. I used masking to make my blending a bit more elegant. The sentiment for this card was made using a sentiment set I released in Spring – Let’s Celebrate Sentiments.

The next card features a different-looking poppy. I used Copic markers and flick-style coloring to add color. You can see how different this card looks.

The background on this card is one I made a looooong time ago using one of the first stitching dies from Spellbinders, I don’t think it is still available. The sentiment is from one of my older sentiment sets – Yana’s Special Sentiments.

My next card features ink subtle ink blending over colored cardstock, you can barely see it, but it adds just a touch of darker pink at the base of the petals.
