Fall is in the air and there’s no time better than now to create Fall cards. Today I’m playing with my Spellbinders October 2018 Small Die of the Month and sharing some simple Fall Thank You & Thanksgiving cards. I have 2 different looks for you today and I’m hoping you’ll give one or both of them a try using these dies or other dies from your stash.

VIDEO TUTORIAL
As always, I filmed a video tutorial showing how to create this project from start to finish. I’m hoping you’ll enjoy it. Watch it below or on my Youtube channel.

The Small Die of the Month from Spellbinders is a subscription Club and the dies I am playing with today are available as a part of the Club membership only. These are October small dies and will be available until the end of the October 2018 only, they might become available later if they do not sell out. Earlier this month I shared a video with a cute truck die and that was a Large Die of the Month for October.
Die Cut Look – Details
I started by using patterned paper to die-cut the parts and pieces for my card. This is not something I do often, but I’ve been very much inspired by my friend Zsoka from Germany who does wonders with patterned papers so I though I’d give it a go myself.
I die-cut the bottom parts of the acorn and white heat embossed several messages from Thanksgiving Table stamp set from Hero Arts. The size of this messages is perfect to go inside these acorns. Of course you can use other stamps from your stash to heat emboss a cute little greeting on top of these to customize them for your projects.
To die cut the top part of the acorn I used a trick. The top has has a lot of die cut detail to it, but I actually wanted all of those pieces to stay put, I want to have a solid acorn hat, so to be able to achieve that I thickened the paper and thus made it slightly more difficult for my die to cut through all of it.
To dress up my acorn cards I also die-cut a few leaves. I used Holly leaves from the Reindeer and Snowman sets and cut them out of pattered paper as well. To add some definition to my die cuts I blended red & orange ink around the edges.
I foam mounted the acorn body onto a panel of white woodgrain cardstock cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″. Next, I used glue to adhere the acorn hat and leaves. Finally, I dressed this card up using Sparkling Clear Jewels.
Hot Foil Look – Details
Recently I talked a bit about my new gadget – Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil machine and I’ve been itching to try and foil these acorn dies to see what kind of look I could get. So once I finished my patterned paper die cut cards I went ahead and pulled out my Glimmer.
My idea was to hot foil an acorn hat directly on my card front, next hot foil the acorn body with the “Hello Fall” insert. I foiled both in Matte Gold foil over some pretty plaid patterned paper in red. The paper is actually slightly textured, and it’s best not to foil on textured surfaces as you will not get a perfect foil transfer, but this worked out okay.
I adhered my base panel onto an A2 white card base and added the “Hello Fall” foiled and die cut acorn body part on top. I also die cut the oak leaves and for this I used copper foiled paper from the Spellbinders October Card of the Month. Lastly, I added a few Gold Jewels from Pretty Pink Posh to spice this card up.
SPELLBINDERS SMALL DIE OF THE MONTH

Beautiful cards with unique dies!
Love the cards
God bless you and your family
Beautiful cards! I love working with patterned paper and that plaid paper you used looks gorgeous with the acorn. I like the intricate cuts in the top of the acorn.
Stunning cards, Yana. I love how the hot foil looks so intricate. Beautifully done.
Gorgeous cards Yana!! I love patterned paper and think that designers should use it more often. This red plaid suits your acorn cards perfectly! I love the detail in the top of the acorn and the foil acorn card looks so elegant, even with the red plaid. These are sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face!
Beautiful cards! The foiled card is an interesting look and makes this great die so much more versatile. Also like the idea of stamping and die cutting using the buffalo check paper. Great look. Thanks for the tip about keeping all the pieces in the acorn top in place!
