Hello friends! I seem to have so many projects created with Spellbinders dies for Spellbinders blog and Youtube channel that I never shared here, I keep wanting to post and than I forget or never have the time. So today I’m sharing one of the cards I created using a texture plate from the Art Deco Collection. Its a truly gorgeous collection, very different from their previous lines (and I totally love it!).

VIDEO TUTORIAL
I am sharing a closer look at Deco Chevron texture plate (and also showing the difference between texturing and embossing with a plate) and showing how to create this card. Watch video below or on my Youtube channel:

CARD DETAILS
I used Deco Chevron texture plate, its a larger plate (basically this is a one large die that only embosses or adds texture, it doesn’t cut) that measures 5×7 inches, so perfect for 5×7 or smaller cards. The card I’m sharing today is 5×7 inches.
Texture plates can be used with both cutting and embossing sandwiches and depending on the sandwich you use will give you a different result. I like them both and often use one or the other.
To create the double embossed look I used both dry and heat embossing. I first inked up the plate with embossing ink, prepped black cardstock with anti static powder tool and placed the inked plate on top making sure not to move it once it touched the paper. Next I used my embossing sandwich and embossed black cardstock in my Platinum machine.
After cardstock was embossed I covered it with gold embossing powder. The versamark ink transferred from the die onto the paper and allowed embossing powder to stick to the paper. I heat set it and ended up having a unique double embossed background.
For the sentiment I used stamps from Altenew. I really like their Sentiments and Quotes set and and I used “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle” one, but I replaced the “Be Kind” with Deco Alpha stamps as I wanted it to stand out.
