Spellbinders | DIY Watercolor Die Cut Background. Video

Hello al! I have another card to share using Spellbinders Art Deco collection dies (watch this video from the CHA show to learn about this line). This project is not done in the Art Deco style, instead I wanted to see if I could use the dies I’m featuring today for a card done in a different style.

CARD DETAILS

I started working on this project by creating a watercolor background for my die cuts, if you watch the video you’ll see the the watercolor looks rather ugly at first, but once its cut into smaller pieces it really pops.

I used Spellbinders’ Ferns and Leaves dies to create colorful elements for the background and added a few die cuts done in gold. Everything was adhered onto a base panel using Xyron Sticker Maker machine.

I also die cut additional layers using Savoy Labels and Savoy Decorative Element dies, added a simple heat embossed sentiment, a bit of ribbon and foam mounted that onto my panel. I added a layer or silver polka dot vellum in between the layers to mute the background a bit and help the central die cut cluster stand out.

While the Savoy Labels and Decorative Element dies are a part of the Art Deco Collection by Stacey Caron for Spellbinders I tried to use these dies differently. I do have other projects already shared here (and more coming soon) using Art Deco Collection is a true Art Deco style. Here’s an additional example I have published here so far:
