I was very excited to see Spellbinders launch a new die kit in addition to their regular Die Of The Month Subscription. The Large Die Of The Month Subscription Kit is exactly that – a subscription kit featuring larger die designs.
For those of you who don’t know me, I work as an in-house creative designer at Spellbinders and part of my duties is creating samples using all of the Spellbinders kits including this one. In today’s post I’ll share a closer look at the two cards featured on the inspiration sheet:
CARD DETAILS – CONGRATULATIONS
I started working on this card by die cutting a number of borders using one of the border dies from my kit out of gold glitter cardstock. The cardstock I used comes from Hobby Lobby and it’s the kind the sheds a bit of glitter. Not all glitter papers can be die cut, especially those that do not shed any glitter at all, they are made out of vinyl and aren’t die cuttable with a detailed die like this one – so this is just something to keep in mind.
I was planning to make a square card so I estimated I needed to have 4 borders and cut 4. I didn’t emboss them, although you can if you cut this die out of other paper, as this glitter paper hides all of the embossed detail.
I created a white top folding card base measuring 5 3/4 ” square. Next, I cut a blue cardstock panel to 5 1/2″ square and foam mounted it onto the card. I used a sheet of fun foam and adhesive tape instead of foam adhesive to adhere the panel.
Using foam adhesive squares I adhered my die cut borders onto the card spacing them evenly. The die cuts go outside the card a tiny bit, I really liked this look so I didn’t trim them.
Next, I stamped a simple Congratulations sentiment in black ink onto a white cardstock strip and foam mounted onto the card. I was going for a Moroccan look here so I used Nuvo Drops in Gloss White and added a number of white enamel dots onto my project.
CARD DETAILS – WITH ALL MY HEART
My second project, With All My Heart, features a handmade card and a matching envelope. Once again I used gold glitter cardstock but this time went with a deeper blue, Navy, for my set.

I started working on this project by adding a layer of Stick It onto the back of my glitter cardstock; since this is a very detailed die I had to run it through my die cutting machine a few times to make sure all of the details would be perfectly cut. I cut two pieces and set them aside.
To make the card I created a 5 1/2″ square top folding card base out of white cardstock. Next, I cut a blue cardstock panel to 5 1/4″ square and foam mounted it onto the card. I adhered one of my die cuts in place using the sticky I already had on the back from using Stick It.
To create a sentiment for this card I heat embossed “With All My Heart” in gold embossing powder onto same blue cardstock and trimmed into a 2 1/2″ square. I also cut a 2 5/8 ” glitter cardstock panel to mat under the sentiment and foam mounted onto my card.
To create the envelope I used my We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board and made one for a 5 1/2″ card. I trimmed my gold die cut and adhered it onto the inside of the envelope as an envelope liner.
