Simon Says Stamp | You Are All Of My Stars – Adding Shimmer with Mica Sprays

Hello there! Sometimes I discover a product that quickly becomes a favorite of mine and I simply can’t do without it (like gold mirror cardstock and gold glitter paper). This time – its Mica Spray from Tim Holtz. There are a lot of different products out there to add shimmer and shine to a project, but this one is definitely my current favorite and I have a feeling I’ll be using it like crazy, especially on my Holiday cards.

SHIMMER GALAXY BACKGROUND CARD

I’ve used Tim Holtz Distress Mica Spray (there are 3 colors of mica spray in one set) on a few cards already, but the one I have today definitely showcases it best. I’ve used two colors – Brushed Pewter and Antiqued Bronze. Photo below really shows the shimmer best – the black panel was made out of regular black cardstock and sprayed with Brushed Pewter. And the galaxy piece? It was made out of white.

I started working on this card by creating a small galaxy watercolor. First I heat embossed stars from Seeing Stars stamp set from August 2016 Card Kit from Simon onto Tim Holtz Watercolor cardstock. Next I used several colors of distress ink and a water brush and watercolored a tiny galaxy. I added drops of water and sprayed this piece with Antiqued Bronze mica spray.

I die cut a circle opening in the black panel using Simon’s Stitched Circles and foam mounted the panel onto the galaxy using black foam squares and adhered everything onto a black A2 top folding card base.

I was making this card for my hubby and I went with a fabulous sentiment – You Are My Sun, My Moon and All Of My Stars and I stamped it in VersaFine Onyx Black ink. I also added just a few clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh in 4 mm and 6 mm sizes.
