The last time I made a baby card was when my cousin had her son, more than 2 years ago. Needless to say, I don’t make baby cards very often. I was putting away my supplies and organizing my stamps in my drawers and came across Simon’s Oh Baby stamp set. It is such a darling baby set, yet one I hardly ever use. So I pulled it out and played with it to make this card.

CARD DETAILS
A wall above my desk is decorated with some of my old cards (the wall needs a new lick of paint, and while I procrastinate with re-painting it I put my old cards there, for display). I often like to look at it for inspiration. I glanced at it and I saw this card with a striped background. That inspired the background for this project.
I recently got two new colored cardstock packs from Hero Arts, Arctic, and Mist. I love those colors and I tend to them on nearly every project I make lately. I also always try to use even the smallest bit of this paper, I had some leftover cardstock pieces on my desk and decided to cut them into strips. I also added Simon’s Audrey Blue and Fog cardstock strips to the combo to have a light blue – teal – gray color combination. I love this plank-like background.
Having the plank background also allowed me to make a secret pocket on this card. You know, to tuck money as a gift. I just made a slit in the paper between the planks (the paper that the planks were adhered to, not the card base) and ensured there was enough space to tuck a folded bill. Here’s what it looks like with Euros tucked in:
I stamped images from the Oh Baby stamp set in Simon’s Duckling, Sunshine, Lake Shores, and Audrey Blue inks, adding a black outline with Versafine Onyx Black. I cut those out with coordinating dies and arranged on my card. I also cut a circle for the sentiment and cut a little banner from Audrey Blue for a white heat embossed sentiment.
The little feet were stamped in Simon’s Fog ink. To embellish, I used Sea Glass Jewels from Pretty Pink Posh and blue flat sequins from one of the mixes in my stash.

Fantastic card. Love the colours. Perfect for a new baby. Thank you.
So glad you like it, Debby. Thank you!
It adorable, Yana. What a very clever idea, too, to make a spot for money. 😀
WOW, fabulous card to welcome a new baby into the world. Like the background colours you used & can see how easy you can swop up the colours depending on sex of baby or nursery colour themes. Thank you. Stay safe, healthy & happy creating x
