Once again I’m grateful to say we are okay. We spent nearly the entire day in our shelter yesterday. Sirens sounded nearly all day long. I kept busy most of the day as I had a lot of work emails to reply to, and I am so thankful that I have that, to keep me busy and my mind occupied. We also skyped with Denzil last night, it was fun, here’s our skype screenshot/photo:
My today’s card is a ray of hope. It is an encouragement card I made for myself. I sometimes make cards for myself to help lift my spirits. I usually end up giving those cards away, but the card-making process itself reflects what’s going on in my heart at that moment or whatever my heart needs. It needed encouragement in that particular moment, so I made an encouragement card.

CARD DETAILS
Cardmaking is an amazing therapy. It helps you forget about the problems, even if for a little bit, and it lets you pour your emotions into something beautiful. I used Simon’s Waves Builder background stamp (I’ve used it on another card HERE) to create a colorful sunset background. It also looks a bit like a desert, I can see the sand dunes in this card.
I stamped each wave using a different color of ink using my MISTI: Sunbeam, Citrine, Melon (I cut that wave out), Cantaloupe, Peachy, Cantaloupe. Next, I cut one of the waves out splitting my background in two.
I used a sunray image from the Hello Sunshine stamp set and stamped it in black ink in the opening, I also added a heart in the center. Next, I foam mounted the background pieces and foam mounted the entire panel onto an A2 card base.
The sentiment here was made using Simon’s pre-printed sentiment strips, I used one from the Well Wishes set. Lastly, I added a few white gems.
To me, this card says “hope”. There’s hope for a better, peaceful tomorrow.

Hi, Yana – I love your beautiful card. The colors are cheerful and positive. I love that wave builder stamp. Glad you are doing OK. If I send you a normal care package (nothing super-medical or tactical), would you get it? Is regular mail getting through? Just an idea… I continue to pray and pray and pray for you. I am so mad at myself. I got a speeding ticket this morning and that is now $ that I can’t give to Denzil. I’m super annoyed at my own stupidity. Please know that I am sorry.

I LOVE both the idea behind this card and the card itself!! You are truly an inspiration to all of your followers of resiliency ♥️❤️ I can see the sand dunes as well and am praying that you will be able to enjoy again, the beautiful sunset’s, warmth and sunshine. I keep you guys next to my heart each day. I wish that I could send you cards but I don’t think you have postal service. Stay well
What a beautiful card Yana! I really like the idea of creating a card for yourself. I’ve never thought about creating cards this way, but it makes perfect sense. I’m glad to hear you and your family are still safe; I pray for you and all of Ukraine often.
Hi Yana,
I have been admiring your cards for a few weeks now after finding your blog. You cards do not fail to inspire me and are all beautiful.
What has also inspired me is your courage to carry on in the dreadful situation that yourself and fellow Ukranians find yourself in. I pray every day that peace will soon return to your beautiful country. Stay safe. God Bless. x
Beautiful card. Glad you are hanging in there.
This is so beautiful Yana … and you stand out to me as a ray of hope for your whole country
You’re so right. Our dear Yana is literally creating hope! It’s so beautiful! ☀️
Beautiful uplifting card!!!! I’m so glad you can make cards to make yourself feel better! Cheaper than therapy, right!! <3
Yana, the fact that you made yourself an encouragement card touched my heart and made me smile. ☀️ It’s such a beautiful thing, and please know that while it uplifts your spirit and gives you strength, it also does the same for those around you. That’s one of the special gifts of art and creativity. You’re not only helping yourself, you’re helping your loved ones, and your countrymen, too. It spreads all that love and gratitude out into the world. You have the best heart! Sending you hugs and strength and so much hope!
I love your card Yana, and love why you made it. I hope it lifted your spirits as much as it has lifted mine.
You are always in my thoughts and heart. Hoping for peace for you and your loved ones and for Ukraine.
Hugs & Love ❤️
