Simon Says Stamp | Stamp & Turn - Background Stamping Technique. Video. Blog Hop

Hello, friends! Thank you for stopping by. Today I’m excited to join Simon Says Stamp for their Peace on Earth release blog hop! Today I have 3 card ideas to share all showcasing a new technique I’ve been playing with – and I call it “stamp and turn”! It is very simple and one you would be able to use with many of the background stamps you have in your stash.

CARD DETAILS

Start by cutting paper to 6×6 inches or about that size, depending on the size of the stamp you are using. I am using cling background stamps, these are all cut just slightly smaller than 6”, so cutting my paper to 6” square works for me. If you are using a smaller stamp – just cut your paper to about the size of the stamp.

Using a stamp positioner will make the stamping process a lot easier, although you don’t have to use it, this technique can be done without as it doesn’t require precise stamping.

Not every stamp will work for this technique, background stamps with designs like this will work. Stamps that have directional imagery will not be the best choice. You also want to use a stamp that has some solid areas to it, outline stamps will not give you the same look. I’ll show you several options during this video.

The idea is to stamp the same image in 2 different colors of ink. One shadow color and one main color. I picked Fossil ink from SSS for my shadow layer, it is a very pale gray color and you want to use something that will give you a subtle look, not too vibrant, not too dark, but something subtle.

  1. Hi, Yana – This is a terrific technique! Love it! I love all of the cards. I thought the pine cone card would be my favorite but it’s hard to choose now that the cards are made. I love that thick green leaf border around card #1. My favorite technique for backgrounds is creating a plaid or a repeated design many times.
    You are ridiculously talented!

  2. This stamp and turn technique is amazing. Another way to dress up a one dimensional stamp. Even the last one, once it was colored was lovely. Thanks for sharing this with us!

  3. Well that’s tomorrows scheduked fun time… checkingbmy backgrounds and choosing some to try this technique. Beautiful cards that are so warm yet traditional. I love the pinecones so much, love that color combo. I learn from you my dear, I have no suggestions.
