Hello friends! I couldn’t resist stamping a floral pattern (I find this kind of stamping rather relaxing) using one of Simon’s older stamp set – Scribble Flowers. I love big and bold flowers like this as they make it very easy (and quick) to stamp custom backgrounds. See end of my post for additional background ideas using similar stamps.

CARD DETAILS
I started working on this card by picking out colors of ink. I wanted to stamp a fresh and colorful pattern for Spring or maybe even Summer. The colors of ink I used are:
- Large Flower: Pale Blush Pink and Rosie Cheeks (one flower in the middle is stamped using Rosie Cheeks and Coral Reef, but it is covered with vellum; I didn’t like how intense those two colors looked together on this pattern);
- Medium Flower: Duckling and Sunshine
- Small Flower: Hollyhock and Hot Lips
- Leaves: Green Apple and Evergreen
I also used Mint color to stamp tiny dots in between the large flowers to fill in the space and I added black and white pen accents to each image.
TIPS FOR STAMPING THIS PATTERN
- It’s a good idea to test stamp your pattern or at least a single cluster onto some typing paper. I always start like this.
- When stamping a pattern begin by stamping largest image first and smallest image last. If you stamp smallest images first you might end up having no room for the large images.
- Images on this pattern aren’t masked, they overlap (flowers overlap each other); feel free to do masking if you like a cleaner look. I find masking to take too much time when stamping background patterns, so I rarely use it.
- When “assigning” colors to specific images I like to use brightest boldest color with smallest flowers. This way the pattern doesn’t end up being too colorful and too busy.
For my sentiment I decided to go big. I used a large You from the Big You stamp set and heat embossed it in white onto a vellum strip. I also added additional sentiment – Are The Best Part Of My Day from the You stamp set.
Unfortunately, it looks like the Big You stamp set is discontinued. There are a few stamp sets with similar size YOU, I’m linking to Big U Words below just in case.
You can use any other sentiment with a floral pattern like this one. It works great for Birthday and Anniversary cards, Encouragement cards and simple everyday projects.

I love the layered stamping and mix of colors. Very “Spring-y”. Believe me, Spring is sounding very good right now. The temp is 4 degrees now, with a forecasted low of -15 tonight…and that’s without the wind chill factor!
thank you, Susie! and oh my, that is COLD!
WOW, Yana, the colours on your card are fabulous and I love the stamps you used. A great card!
