I received my goodies several days ago and was eager to rush to my crafty corner to sit down and enjoy some play time with my new stamps. Who doesn’t love that?
NOTHING CAN DIM YOUR LIGHT CARD DETAILS
The Rest & Refresh is yet another fabulous release from Simon. It features several stamps done in different style by different artists (this is what I love most about Simon’s releases – there is something for everyone). My favorite set from this collection is one done by Shari Caroll (I’m guessing, I could be wrong, but this illustration style looks a lot like Shari’s) – Your Light. This set features beautiful dainty illustrated images of a lighthouse, yacht, buoy, as well as many additional, supportive images such as clouds, seagulls, fish, crab, etc.
The sentiments in this set are also fantastic as they aren’t your typical “hello” messages, but those with a beautiful meaning. I used “Nothing Can Dim Your Light” one for the card I’m sharing today.
To create this card I stamped a scene using Simon’s Intense Black ink and my mini MISTI tool. Absolutely no masking was required (you know I’m not a fan of masking), it was an utter pleasure to stamp this scene. I stamped the lighthouse, added rays of light, a few clouds, and seagulls.
I used a few of my go-to Copic marker colors to quickly color these images: R89, R39, R27, R05, B29, B24, B02, B00, B000, Y35, Y15, Y11, C5, C3, C1. This reminds me, I need to order a few refills, better go that before I forget again.
Using a circle die I cut the scene out, it just made more scene to place it into some sort of shape. To create a background for this card I dry embossed one of Simon’s new stencils – Nautical Stripes on white cardstock. This is one of my favorite ways to use stencils! After foam mounting the stamped scene to a card, I coated the lighthouse with some lacquer to give it a glossy finish and adhered 2 enamel hearts in red to balance the design off.
REST & REFRESH RELEASE
I encourage you to check out Simon’s Rest & Refresh release – there’s something for everyone! I’ll be back with more project ideas later this week on the 2nd day of Simon’s blog hop, I hope you’ll join me!

This is such a great scene Yana and I love that there was no masking involved. I don’t mind masking now and again but don’t want to every time I create a scene. Well done.
Ooh this is so wonderful! I love the clean white background with the embossing, the focal point, the perfect sentiment and those 2 tiny beautiful hearts! Awesome work! 🙂
This is a stamp set I would like to get. I really like all the sentiments and, as a lover of all things ocean/beach, just my thing!! And it will go nicely with a couple of other beach/ocean stamp sets I have. I really like what you’ve done with it. The simple dry embossed background really compliments the focal point (a background technique I keep forgetting about when looking to do a simple background). Look forward to seeing what else you’ve done/are doing with this!! Thank you, Yana.
Really Beautiful card!!!
With that sweet sentiment, you’ve made such an amazing encouragement card!
Such fabulous nautical cards
Love, love, love your nautical card. Such an inspiration for the stamp set. Thank you
I love the lighthouse and the encouraging sentiment. Everyone at some point could use a card like this, thanks for the inspiration. Wishing you well.
Great job Yana. Love your card

Yana, thank you so very much for your inspiration and thoughtful tutorials, as well as for you gorgeous work. You have taught me so very much, and I totally appreciate it. This card is just spot-on for what I need, both for myself and for friends who are going through bad times. Thank you!
Really love the nautical theme and your coloring!
