Hello there! I don’t know about you, but for me stamping is very therapeutic. Give me a stamp set, some inks and paper – and I’ll be stamping my heart away (and will probably forget to do laundry and clean the apartment lol).

The cards I have to share today are some quick to make Valentine’s Day projects. I very much loved the font in the Believe stamp set that came out earlier this year from Simon (see this card idea to see it in action) and I got very excited to see the same font used again for a Love-themed stamp set, Kristina’s Love.
I was eager to play with this set, plus I recently received my Christmas present – I bought myself a 150 set of Prismacolor Pencils and I was too excited to give them a try.
I didn’t want to do too much coloring, just a hint here and there and decided it would be fun to color parts of the letters on the stamped Love. I grabbed my Simon’s Intense Black ink and Fog cardstock and stamped two panels (I used Smoke for the second one). I created a pattern by repeatedly stamping Love on my first panel; for my second panel I simply stamped Love once.
Gray, pink and white always make a fantastic color combination so this is the color combo I went for. Since I already had gray I used several pink Prismacolor pencils (I probably need to make a chart for my pencils to see the colors better) and colored each “Love” – I made my letters lighter on the right and darker on the left.
The main “Love” was colored using reds and this was a complete afterthought – it was first colored pink and later colored over using red pencils. Needless to say I am very happy with how these color. The one part I don’t like – is that the pencil also covers black stamped outline, but there are ways to avoid having that problem.
My second project is very much the same as the first one aside from dry embossing in the background created using a stencil. I love to use my stencils to add subtle texture to the background. If you’d like to re-create this card, here’s what you need to do:
- Stamp “Love” using black ink
- Add coloring to the letters
- Dry emboss using a stencil in your die cutting machine. To emboss with a stencil you’ll need to use the same sandwich as for embossing with dies (Spellbinders Embossing Mat is needed for this).
To add a bit of something extra to this project I coated colored portion of the letters with glossy accents. I tried using my Wink of Stella Glitter pen over my coloring (please note I’ve added water to my Wink Of Stella as it was dry), but since the Prismacolor pencils have a waxy consistency to them, the water and the shimmer didn’t want to stay. So this is just something to note.
I embellished both of my cards with clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh and added simple heat embossed sentiments in white.
Here’s one final photo of the second card where you can catch a glimpse of glossy accents in action:
