CARD DETAILS

I love to color with Polychromos pencils by Faber Castell, especially when I have a bit more time to dedicate to my coloring. With this card, I didn’t need to think about the design much as the design was already pre-printed for me, so I all had to worry about was coloring.

I have shared a number of videos and tutorials on my blog talking about the aspects of coloring with Polychromos, so I’m not going to go into detail in this post, but I encourage you to check out my tutorials here: Polychromos Pencils Coloring Basics for Cardmakers | Pencil Coloring Over White Heat EmbossingPolychromos vs Copics | Polychromos Coloring on Toned Gray Paper | One Layer Floral Pencil Colored Card.

To begin, I settled on a color scheme for this card and selected several pencils:

  • 154 Light Cobalt Blue and 156 Cobalt Green to color the letters
  • 129 Pink Madder Lake and 123 Fuschia to color the flowers
  • 170 May Green, 168 Earth Green Yellowish and 167 Permanent Green Olive to color the leaves
  • 156 Cobalt Green and 157 Dark Indigo to color the flowers

With the coloring completed, I used a Sakura White pen in size 0.5 and added white dots to some of the flowers, colored flower centers white on other flowers and added highlight lines to the pink flowers. All of that added a lot of detail and interest to this card. I love using my Sakura pens for this and have a pack of 3 in various sizes, I use all sizes depending on the project I am working on.

I love to stamp, so naturally, I wanted to add some simple stamping to my colored panel to enhance in. I stamped “There’s no one I’d rather be linked to than you” inside the letter O. I used my mini MISTI stamping tool and Intense Black ink for stamping.

Next, I stamped “Hello, my love“, again in black ink, this time I positioned it in between the letters V and E. I also stamped “I love you so much” on Sea Glass cardstock, cut out and foam mounted onto the panel overlapping both letters V and E.

Lastly, my panel was trimmed to 4 x 5 1/4″ and foam mounted onto A2 white side folding card base. I use white flat sequins from the Birthday Cake mix.

  1. Your card is sweet! I like how you used 3 different sentiments and the way you placed them on the card. The bright blues are a refreshing change from pink and red! I like the touch of pink and the deeper blue highlights. Nice work!
