Simon Says Stamp | Piggy Birthday Card – Wishing You Hogs & Kisses

Hello, friends! One can never have enough Birthday cards on hand, so today I wanted to share one I made just the other day – Wishing You Hogs & Kisses. I tend to make funny and silly cards lately and I enjoy them more, too. Happy to see that you are loving them just as much!

CARD DETAILS

When I made my Happy New Year Chick card last year I set my eye on this hilarious stamp set from Simon. I’m not sure what I liked more – funny animals or clever messages, but I knew I wanted to use it to create a set of Birthday cards. I haven’t yet made a set, but I did make one card – the one I am sharing today.

I started working on this project by heat embossing round Happy Birthday sentiment in white embossing powder onto Arches Hot Press watercolor paper (hot press means that this paper is smooth, which is ideal for stamping).

Next I stamped the funniest pig holding a balloon in the center of the circle (I needed to heat emboss the circle sentiment first to best place the piggy). I also stamped a little banner above my piggy and added several birthday gifts stamped onto a separate piece of watercolor paper.

I used Gansai Tambi watercolors and did simple coloring. First I added light gray around the piggy and sentiment – since my sentiment was stamped in white on white I needed to introduce some color to the background to help it become visible on my card. Next I used light pink and yellow to color the rest.

I die-cut gifts using coordinating dies and foam mounted them onto my main panel which I also foam mounted onto a Fog card base (it a square 4 1/4″ card).

My sentiment, Birthday Hogs & Kisses was stamped in black ink onto white paper, cut into a strip and foam mounted onto the card. Lastly, I added a few colorful drops using Nuvo Drops in English Mustard and Neon Shocking Pink (this is brand new).
