It is hot, humid, and sunny outside, yet all I have on my mind is Christmas cards. I’m even humming Christmas tunes when I’m in my craft room. So odd!
I wanted to see if I could use the houses from the Home Sweet Home stamp set from Simon Says Stamp to make a Christmas card (I recently got a coordinating die and was anxious to die-cut these images). Spoiler alert – yes! The houses work rather well to create a peaceful winter village scene.

CARD DETAILS
I stamped the row of houses twice and colored using W5, W3, and W1 Copic markers for the most part. I also used YG00, YG01, YG25, YG17 to color the trees. Cutting these out with the coordinating die was such a treat! I love to have coordinating dies for my most used, and my most favorite stamp sets.
Next, to add a bit of winter charm to the scene I stamped and cut out Christmas trees using images from CZ Coolest Yulest set in Simon’s Smoke Gray (what? yes, I used gray ink) and Willow. The stamps had some dark green ink leftover on the surface from the previous time I used them, so when I inked them with Smoke ink the impressions I got were of dark green-gray color.
I pulled out a panel of Mist cardstock from Hero Arts (I so love this color of light blue) and arranged the images to my liking. I used the trees to block the images of the fountain next to my houses, the fountains just didn’t work for this card. I foam mounted all of my die cuts onto the panel and next stamped a sentiment using stamps from the Holiday Greetings Mix 1 stamp set.
Next, I used my white pigment ink pad (when was the last time you used yours?) and stamped several white snowflakes in various sizes above my village. To create more snow I used Jane Davenport Story Time Paint Pens and added large and medium-size white dots all over the blue background. I love the result!
Lastly, I embellished the card with Silver jewels from Pretty Pink Posh. What’s the verdict, do you think this makes a good Christmas card? I’m tempted to use these houses more for Holiday projects.
