Hello friends! Alcohol inks, it seems, are making a huge comeback so it’s no surprise that Simon Says Stamp included 3 bottles of Alcohol ink in their latest October 2018 card kit. I am very much new to alcohol inking and background making (just recently I shared my first video & projects with Alcohol inks) so I was thrilled to receive this kit in the mail and have another excuse to play with this new-to-me medium.

CARD DETAILS
I started working on my card by making my alcohol ink background. I poured a bit of alcohol into a small mixing container and added several drops of Stream alcohol ink to dilute it and make less saturated. I swirled my mixture in the mixing container and next carefully poured it onto yupo paper from my kit.
I picked my yupo paper up and tilted it from left to ring and top to bottom and vice versa to help my ink move and cover almost the entire surface of the yupo panel. I also used my heat tool on the low setting and used it to help speed up the drying process (the flow of hot air from the heat tool also helped the ink move a bit).
Next, I used my stamp platform and a stamp set from the kit along with a Alcohol Ink Lift ink pad to stamp a beautiful floral cluster and lift the ink off my background. I stamped it several times and blotted ink off with a dry paper towel to reveal this beautiful image on my background. It’s like an emboss resist technique without the embossing or resisting. Very beautiful results, and frankly – not hard to achieve at all.
I trimmed my alcohol ink background panel to 4 x 5 1/4″ and foam mounted it on an A2 white side folding card base. I also white heat embossed a Birthday sentiment from the stamp set in my kit and foam mounted it on top. Lastly, I used Nuvo Drops in Gloss White and added several white accents onto my card.

On the occasion of a card for a new class online, I used this stamp from Simon Says Stamp of a kit which seemed not so “old” and suddenly I plunge back into his gallery and I discover your cards!
