Simon Says Stamp | Magical Birthday Card

Hello, friends! I’m feeling inspired by the products from Simon’s latest Make Magic release. My today’s project is a Birthday card – one can never have enough of those on hand!

CARD DETAILS

I started working on my project by stamping the birthday cake, candles, and flowers from the Do What It Cakes stamp set and coloring with Copic markers. I debated doing some fancy coloring for the cake but ended up coloring it solid yellow and adding a white pen highlight.

I used a Magical To Me stamp set and coordinating dies to create a sentiment. The “magical” was also embossed in clear embossing powder to add a glossy finish. The background of this card was stamped with a Throwing Shapes stamp – I used Versamark ink for a tone-on-tone look.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

• Stamp cake, candles, and flowers in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Simon’s 120lb cardstock.
• Color using Copic markers:
  • Y17; Y08; Y11;
  • YG67, YG17, YG03;
  • C3, C1;
  • RV09, RV10, RV00;
• Add white pen detail to images, cut out with coordinating dies.
• Stamp background on Spellbinders Alabaster cardstock with Throwing Shapes stamp in embossing ink for a tone-on-tone look. Adhere to the A2 white top folding card base.
• Foam mount cake, flowers, and candles on top.
• Stamp sentiment using Magical to Me stamp set in Versafine Onyx Black ink. Cut out using a coordinating die (cut 4 additional blank layers, adhere together to add dimension to the “magical” die-cut). Heat emboss in clear embossing powder. Foam mount onto the card.
• Embellish with white pearls and gems.
