Simon Says Stamp | Limited Edition Halloween Card Kit

Hello, friends! Simon’s online store is bursting with exciting new products this month and in addition to their regular October card kit they also have a Limited Edition Halloween kit. I love to make handmade cards so I used my kit just for that and created 2 silly/spooky Halloween cards. I loved the tiny googly eyes (I’ll have to get more of these as I’m addicted to them!) in my kit as well as puffy stickers (any time there are puffy stickers in ANY kit – I LOVE them!) and of course the stamp set.

I made this card by simply creating a scene using puffy stickers – I picked a witch, added two bats and a little “Boo” and called it done! I also added tiny googly eyes to make these bats look more silly than scary and a white heat embossed sentiment that reads “Witch Way To The Candy” – love the word play!

This kit has a ton of 8×8″ papers from Tim Holtz with very simple patterns like this large polka dot one (and the other side of the paper is kraft). There are also a few other patterned paper sheets with spiderwebs, spiders and stripes.

To create my second card I white heat embossed a Haunted House onto black cardstock strip and colored it using my Polychromos pencils (I’m really loving coloring using these lately I’ll probably be sharing lots more using them – don’t know why I waited so long to try them out). I also used one of the brighter patterns from my kit – love this Halloween plaid.

I added a “It’s Meow-Lloween” sentiment and to make it appropriate for this card foam mounted a puffy sticker of cat. I also added another cat sticker behind the banner making it look like the kitties and peeking from behind (I used one sticker for this and just cut it apart at an angle).

I also scattered a bunch of googly eyes across the black banner making it look like there are ghosts everywhere. Love this trick!
