I love to use jewels to embellish my cards, possibly even more than I love sequins, as jewels add such a beautiful, unique finishing touch to any project. That being said, I wanted to see if I could use jewels to mimic falling snow on a Holiday card, so I made the card I’m sharing today to test my idea out. Let me know what you think – would you use jewels like this?

CARD DETAILS
I wanted to build a scene using Christmas trees. I pulled out the tree stamps from the Coolest Yulest stamp set from Cathy Zielske and stamped trees in the following colors of ink: Green Apple, Evergreen, Smoke, Willow, and Maliblue. Similar to the colors I used HERE. Next, I cut the images out using coordinating dies.
I used a panel of Arctic cardstock for the background and stamped a sentiment in black ink in the center of my panel. I used sentiments from the Stained Glass Greetings stamp set, I love the font used for the word “Joy”, so unique!
Next, I arranged my Christmas tree die cuts on the panel alternating big and small trees and trees of various colors. I used foam adhesive and foam mounted all of these die cuts onto the background to create some dimension on the card. This created the illusion of a Winter forest. I love the result!
I trimmed my background panel to 4 1/4 x 5″ and adhered to the A2 white card base. Then, I used Sea Glass jewels from Pretty Pink Posh and scattered them around the sky portion of my panel positioning them more densely at the top. Adding jewels and gluing them in place is probably what took the longest when making this card, as you have to pick each jewel up, add a dot of glue and place it down. A tedious task for sure. But, something I don’t mind doing from time to time for a unique looking background. I wonder what you think? Would you use jewels in this way? Maybe you already have? Please share in the comments below. Thank you!

Soooo Pretty!!!
OMG I would definitely use these jewels on a card. I love sequins and jewels on cards. I never thought of doing this, but now I will have to try it. Love the idea and your card.
