Simon Says Stamp | I’ve Always Been So Fawned Of You Watercolor Card

Hello, there! I have always been a fan of stamp sets with some sort of “word play” so Simon’s new So Deer stamp set from the Mothers, Fathers and Florals release has immediately caught my eye.

CARD DETAILS

I decided to stamp a little scene using images from the So Deer stamp set and use watercolor to complete the scene (add grassy hill and sky). I used Versafine Onyx black ink and my mini MISTI stamp positioner and stamped images onto Arches Hot Press watercolor paper (it has a smooth finish making it perfect for stamping projects you plan to watercolor).

I did very simple watercoloring using my Gansai Tambi watercolors and a water brush. After my coloring was done and paper was dry I trimmed my panel down to 3 1/4 x 4 5/8″ and foam mounted onto a 4 Bar card base. I added natural twine at the top of my card and also foam mounted a sentiment – “I’ve Always Been So Fawned Of You”. I used same black ink and stamped sentiment onto same watercolor paper (I used just a strip of my watercolor paper so that paper color and texture would match). I also added a strip of gold glitter tape under my sentiment so somehow spice things up.

Lastly, I needed to add accents. I used a white pigment pen and added white dots onto my Fawn image (I looked up Fawns on Pinterest to know how to color him and where to add dots) and added clear dots using Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew.

This card design makes a great friendship card or even a child card. I look forward to playing with the So Deer stamp set some more in the future.
