Simon Says Stamp | Hello Beautiful Release – Spring Birds Mini Slimline Card

I think I am not the only one who is impatiently waiting for Spring to come. This winter has been loads of fun (especially with all the snow we got), but I am more than ready for Spring, warmer temperatures, and some beautiful spring greenery. Today marks a new release from Simon Says Stamp – Hello, Beautiful, and it is nothing but reminiscent of Spring! And it is a beautiful release indeed. I have several cards planned, as well as video tutorials, showcasing the new goodies.

My today’s card features the new Spring Birds stamp and dies set. I love the various style birds included in this set, as well as the tree branch to prop my birds on.

CARD IDEA

I used my Simon’s dye inks to create an angled ink blended background for this mini slimline card.

I used the same technique featured in this video and ink blended a sky and grass background using Simon’s Soft Navy, Audrey Blue, Maliblue, Duckling, Jellybean, and Green Leaf inks.

CARD INSTRUCTIONS

Follow these instructions step by step to re-create this card:

• Ink blend a background on Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock. Trim to 3″ x 6″.

• Stamp birds and branches in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Color images with Copic markers:
  • Y00, Y11, Y15; W1, W3, W5; B000, B00, B02; BG11 to color the birds;
  • E31, E33, E37, E79 to color the branches;
  • YG03, G94, G99 to color the leaves.

• Cut images out with coordinating dies in die cutting machine and foam mount onto ink blended panel. Trim excess.
• Foam mount panel onto mini slimline card base 3 1/4 x 6 1/4″.
• Stamp “Hello Spring” sentiment inside the sun.
• Embellish card with clear drops to add interest and texture.
