Hello there and welcome! Thank you so much for stopping by today to help celebrate Simon Says Stamp From The Vault Blog Hop. Simon and Lawn Fawn are bringing back with From the Vault: Merry Christmouse stamps and dies. These were extremely popular their first time around (during STAMPtember 2015) and I am very happy to see these products back in stock. I personally missed this stamp set last year so I was very eager to play this time!

VIDEO TUTORIAL

I’ve filmed a video tutorial where I am sharing everything in detail. You can watch it below or on my Youtube channel.

CARDS DETAILS

I decided to make a few simple and silly cards to mail to my friends who have a nice sense of humor. I started by stamping images from the Merry Christmouse stamp set in Simon’s Intense Black Ink onto white paper. I used my mini MISTI stamp positioner as I wanted to double stamp them and have perfect black outlines.

I used a few colors of Copic markers are quickly colored these. The colors I used are:

After cutting my images out using coordinating dies I started working on my background. I used my regular size MISTI, Sea Glass cardstock panel and Diagonal Stripe 6×6 cling background stamp and heat embossed beautiful white stripes.

For my Naughty or Mice card I heat embossed sentiment in Simon’s Antique Gold embossing powder onto vellum, wrapped vellum around the panel and adhered it onto an A2 top folding card base. I also foam mounted my images and added some red and white bakers twine to finish the card.

For my Merry Christmouse card I cut a banner out of Schoolhouse Red cardstock, foam mounted it onto the heat embossed panel (I already had it adhered onto a card base) and foam mounted my images on top. I also stamped “Have A” in Lipstick Red ink onto a strip of cardstock and foam mounted over the sentiment. To hang the stockings I adhered little pieces of red and white twine.

Lastly, I added a generous amount of Star Dust glitter glue from Ranger and some clear Wink Of Stella glitter pen.

  1. Since you asked, I do think I like the banner card just a little more. The strips of bakers’ twine and the little mouse peaking out of the bottom of the banner are just playful enough to boost this version over the top! I do like the original, too, and I am glad you took out the red strip. Good call! Thanks so much for all you share. Your work is amazing. Merry Christmas to you.

  2. OMGosh your cards are just too cute! Yes-I LOVE funny cards. I always try to make them so others smile. I’ve heard back from some of the recipients and they really do like them!
    Thanks for such awesome inspiration!!!

  3. I pprefer the white card simply because it looks more clean. The red banner is too strong for me. I adore your accent and am drawn to your site for all the tid-bits of advice and sincere honesty in your process. You are a pleasure to watch. Martina

  4. I love both of your cards but I think that I like the one with the red banner a little bit more…. I love to make funny cards and my family and friends think that they are cute and that I should sell them. Much love and God bless you hugs oxox tfs

  5. I would rather make/receive a funny card than one that gushes.
You wonder whether the sentiment is really sincere with those
    that go over the top.
Love the mice looking over the top of the card.
    thanks for sharing.

  6. I really like this set of stamps. I love mice, well, not in my house of course! I love cards with humor and my family would rather have a funny card than a serious or mushy card any day. That’s why I love all these critter stamps. They are so much fun to play with!

  7. Thanks for a well-thoughtout video…it was so helpful to see how you colored your cards. I think I like the one with the red banner best but both are darling. Thanks for the Blog Hop and Giveaway. I look forward to seeing more of your work. I have Pinned you!
