Recently I had some much anticipated free time in my craft room and stamped my heart out. I made several handmade cards using supplies I had sitting on my desk (I have a lot of stuff out!). I was also browsing Pinterest for modern Christmas stationery and was very inspired.

CARD IDEA
I wanted to combine hot foil stamping, heat embossing, and some Copic coloring. I think this card turned out quite beautiful. I love the bold contrast the black background and card base provide to the bright and vibrant coloring.
CARD INSTRUCTIONS
Follow these instructions step by step to re-create this card:
- Foil frame from the Spellbinders Framed Details Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and “wishing you” from the Yana’s Christmas Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set in gold foil on black cardstock.
- Heat emboss “Joy” from the Simon Says Stamp Holiday Sparkle Greetings stamp set and “now and throughout the coming year” from the CZ Good Cheer stamp set in white embossing powder.
- Trim panel to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8″ and foam mount to A2 black card base.
- Stamp images from the Simon Says Stamp Winter Flowers stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock using mini MISTI.
- Color images with Copic markers: R22, R24, R27, R39, YG03, G21, YG63, G94, G99. Place panel back into MISTI and re-stamp outlines using Versafine Onyx Black ink. Cover with Clear embossing powder, heat set.
- Cut images out using coordinating dies. Arrange on the background panel and adhere with foam adhesive.
- Embellish card with gold sequins.

Sooooo Stunning!!!!
thank you, Maureen! So glad you like it
Such a gorgeous card, Yana!
I think that foiling really sets the stage.
I don’t have the ability to foil but I could probably use some skinny frames to create that look.
The vibrant green and red are awesome.
Thanks for your inspiration.
Take care.
thank you, Constance. Yes, I agree. Foiling takes this card to another lever. I’m quite addicted to creating hot foiled cards. Skinny frames would look good too, especially cut from gold mirror cardstock, it is very foil-like.
Absolutely gorgeous. It’s a stunning card Yana. Thank you for sharing your skills and techniques with us. I’ve learned so much from you. Now I need to buy the hot foil frame. I already have all your sentiment sets.
my pleasure, Delia! I’m so glad you like it. This frame is very versatile, and one I used a lot for my cards. In fact, I don’t even put it away, it just sits on a hook on my IKEA pegboard in front of my work table.
Hi, Yana – I know I just gush like a fool in every comment I leave you. Honestly, I am not some crazy celebrity stalker… your work is just SO AMAZING. I think the black cardstock is where the amazing-ness begins for this card. The red, green, gold and white just POP off it. I just love the whole thing… the copic coloring, the foiling… the whole “sha-bang.” I got some copic markers from another crafter, so I will start emulating your coloring and see if I can learn the ways to make coloring look fantastic. Thanks for all the inspiration you provide. p.s. If I have a laminator, is that all I need to do foiling — besides the foil, I mean?
Happy holidays to you and yours,
Lori S in PA
thank you, I’m so glad you like this card! The laminator does foil, but it is a different technology compared to a hot foil system like Glimmer (the one I use). With laminator you can foil printed toner sheets. With Glimmer, you can foil using foil plates and even some regular dies (dies will give you a skinny halo-like foiling). Both are fun systems to play with.
so gorgeous!!
thank you, Tara. Glad you like it!
