Hello, friends. We are all safe! The last few days have been very eventful (nothing dramatic) and have kept me busy and away from the blog and craft room. I have however managed to carve some crafty time with my favorite supplies – and I have a few new cards to share, which I’ll post over the next few days.

CARD DETAILS
A pipe broke in our shelter last Thursday and the shelter has flooded. There were about 6 inches of water when we discovered the leak. We’ve pumped all the water out by now, but everything is still wet. It is going to take a long time to dry it all completely, sort through the damaged items, and get the place cleaned up. The leak has kept us busy for several days and over the Easter weekend (it was Easter weekend this past weekend for us here). But everyone is safe and that’s all that matters.
My card is a simple floral Hello. I used a diagonal foiled background and added pretty colorful flowers and simple sentiment on top. The background was foiled with a Diagonal Stripe Glimmer plate in Matte Gold foil.
Next, I heat embossed flower and leaf outlines in Antique Gold embossing powder and stamped them in various colors of Simon’s Pawsitively Saturated inks. The sentiment (Hello) was created using Hex Yeah stamp set from CZ Design, it is discontinued, and the sub sentiment is one of Simon’s pre-printed sentiment strips.
I wanted to take a minute to thank you all. I wish I could thank everyone personally – you have been so helpful and so supporting. Thank you!
CARDS FOR SOLDIERS
My friend Denzil had an amazing idea to collect handmade cards and distribute them among the Ukrainian soldiers. He has a dedicated page with all the info HERE.
Here is the plan:
- You make beautiful, hand-made cards with a meaningful sentiment (sentiment ideas in Ukrainian HERE)
- Send to Denzil (address HERE).
- Denzil will get them to me and Oles in Ukraine.
- Oles will get them to the boots on the ground.
- We win the war and start rebuilding.
Thank you!

Thanks for all you do Yana–your cards are always gorgeous! I will make cards for your soldiers–I’m in the midst of making cards for my Mom’s use, she’s 90 and lives in a care center. Once I finish her cards, I’ll begin on the soldier cards. We should have a name for ourselves–Cardmakers for Peace and Recovery? CPR? I’m in the medical field, we’re big on abbreviations! Cardmakers for Peace for Ukraine? C4P4U? My daughter-in-law speaks Ukrainian, learned from her Ukrainian Mom and Grandmother. I will ask her.
Dear Yana, this card is beautiful and cheerful, like all your creations! I’m so sorry about the flooding…what a difficult situation to have to clean up! I wish I was there, I would come help you! Sounds like your neighbors did pitch in and that is a lovely gift. I was just reading all the details about the cards for Ukrainian soldiers. What an amazing idea. I’m continually blown away by their bravery and their resolve to defend their beloved country. I’m a slow card maker, but I will get busy. Sending you love and hope and strength, today, and everyday?
Hi Yana, I’m so happy to hear that you’re safe! Sorry about your busted pipe, we’ve had that happen. Thank goodness for the floor fans we have, they were a big help drying everything out.
I’m finishing up a card right now and will turn my attention to making cards for the soldiers. I love the idea, thank you for sharing!
Please stay safe. I know you probably have a lot of good friends here in the states, but if you need help- I’m here. Will keep checking in…God bless you all. With love from all your blog friends in the US, Stephanie.
Dear Yana, I am happy to hear you are safe! Sorry to hear about the troubles with your shelter. I’ll definitely make some cards for the soldiers! I have been selling my greeting cards on Etsy and donating all the proceeds to the Red Cross of Ukraine and World Central Kitchen Ukraine Response. So far we have been able to donate $2,240. to the cause since this horrible war started 2/24/22. My heart goes out to you, your family and all Ukrainians!
Oh Yana, every time you send a message I am so happy. I had written an email that didn’t get sent, but i in it I had told you “I hold you in my heart “ before I had seen this card. Maybe it will surface in cyber space. I am disabled so typing is a challenge, a stray finger got loose and who knows when that email will surface.
You did a Christmas card a couple of years ago. Poinsettia flowers and greenery covered the entire front and the flowers were done in three pencil colors of turquoise encased in gold embossing on dark cardstock, I used navy. It was a SSS stamp. It is one of my all time favorite color combinations.
Your spirit is amazing I pray for your country’s peace and freedom. You and your husband are amazing, you bring me to tears. May God and all your angels be with you.
Love,
Teri
You are amazing … and your strength, courage and grace inspires me
I also pray a plastic encased mattress can be donated soon. I assume yours is soaked, then again maybe not. Who can I trust to have one delivered, my treat? Can I find a local person or can I just send you a check? I am concerned one might be hard to find. We have all of ours in plastic bags made for mattresses, for grand babies and 4 legged friends.
A big line of tape over the zipper is recommended for allergens.
Oh, God… I am crying reading all these comments. I better get busy!! I’m so sorry for the broken pipe and the flooding. I hate that!! I have had that happen once and never again will be too soon for me. I am still praying for you and I am so happy just to have a message, just to know you are OK. Love,
Lori S in PA
Such a beautiful card with a beautiful message. This card made me smile. Uplifting. Thank you. Stay safe and sending thoughts and prayers to you.
Will start making cards. Glad to know that you are safe. I know what a terrible mess flooding makes after having to clean up after one.
Great idea with cards for the troops! I will start directly after work, meanwhile I have sent a contrubition via paypal. Stay safe!
so beautiful
