Happy Tuesday, friends. How are you holding up? It’s been more than 2 weeks of quarantine here and I can’t be more thankful for my little craft corner and cardmaking to keep me sane and busy.
Here’s one of the cards I made last night, just for fun. I went through my older stamp set from Simon (I was also organizing them) and came across the Leafy Frames set. It’s been a while since I used it, so I decided to pull it out and play.

CARD DETAILS
I stamped the round frame image in Simon’s Intense Black ink on white cardstock, using my new Black MISTI tool (I am like a child at Christmas – so enjoying this new MISTI). I used my Copic markers and did some quick and basic coloring. The colors I used were:
With the coloring done I cut the image out using a coordinating die. I also stamped and colored one additional flower and branch and also heat embossed 3 flowers in Antique Gold embossing powder to add some gold accents to my card.
While organizing my craft supplies I also came across Simon’s Extra Large Dots stencil and used it to create a dry embossed background for this card. It is hard to see as the embossing is rather faint, but it does add a nice texture to the card design.
I foam mounted the dry embossed background panel (trimmed it to 3 3/4 x 5/”) onto an A2 white side folding card base and foam mounted the frame on top. Next, I used Simon’s Sentiment Strips (I love how deep dark black those are) and trimmed 2 sentiments for my card – “Happy Birthday” and “I’m so happy you are my friend”. I foam mounted both over the frame.
Lastly, I embellished the card using Stay Gold confetti and added dots using Nuvo Drops in Carnation Pink. I love the way this card turned out!

So very pretty!
thank you, Tara! Glad you like it
Explain what you mean about dry embossing with a stencil please. The card is very beautiful! I am crafting, coloring & gardening during this time.
Ann, I have a video here https://www.yanasmakula.com/simon-says-stamp-one-stencil-four-ways-video-blog-hop-giveaway/, it shows 4 different techniques with stencils, one of them is dry embossing (you will need a die cutting machine and embossing mat for this to work). Glad to hear you are keeping busy! I so wish I could garden! I only have a few plants on my balcony.
Yes, I’m doing more crafting. I’m trading ATCs with my grandchildren through the mail and sending family and friends many more just hello and how are you types of cards. I am very grateful for this hobby that keeps me busy and connected and blog posts like yours. Thank you so much. Be well.
Glad to hear you are keeping busy, Linda! Trading ATCs sounds so fun!
Lovely card! I need to go dig through my stash, I think I have these stamps and dies. Amazing what we find when we clean up! Thanks for the encouragement. I have done my first video and posted it to facebook. During quarantine, I hope to finally get a blog going. Blessings! Ann
Thank you, Ann! Yes! I always end up being very inspired after I clean up my space. I come across many stamp sets that I forgot about and immediately want to play with them.
Gorgeous card!!!!
thank you, Maureen!
Your card is beautiful! I have the stamp set so will be getting out again as your card has inspired me. I have been making cards for a rehab center close to my home for the last year and a half. Now that the residents are not able to have visitors ( due to the epidemic in this country), they need cards more than ever. So I am making more for them and thank you cards for the medical staff.
Yana, today I read your most recent entry and I want you to know that your work is always my inspiration. At this particular time in our lives your watercoloring is just what I need to remain encouraged! Thank you so much.
