Hello, friends! This week and next week are going to be very busy for me as I will be traveling first to SNAP (I’m leaving for this conference tomorrow) and then to CREATE. I am very excited and a bit nervous at the same time. If you are attending any of those (or better yet both) – do stop by and say hello.
I have a few blog posts planned during my travels, so my blog posting will not be put on hold and I’ll continue to share handmade projects.
Today I have a floral Birthday card to share using some older stamp sets from Simon. I received a lovely comment a few weeks ago saying how much you appreciate me sharing projects using older sets and it just melted my heart. We all love new products, but I often enjoy mixing new with old or using just old stamps altogether to share new inspiration. This post is one of those where I’m sharing a card using two older stamp sets from Simon Says Stamp.

CARD DETAILS
The inspiration for this card came from a project I shared recently – Elegant Happy Mother’s Day Card. I picked the same gorgeous roses from the Best Mom Ever stamp set and once again colored them using my Copic markers. I used the exact same colors for my coloring, the colors do look different on the two photos as I took photographs during different times of the day and edited photos a bit differently.
After cutting my roses out (I fussy cut them) I reached out for my Sketch Ranunculus set for stamp a sentiment. I wasn’t planning on adding any additional images, but after I had stamped a sentiment I decided to try to add a few images to make my floral cluster a bit fuller.
I reached for my stamp platform and stamped additional images using Simon’s Intense Black ink onto white cardstock. This time I used violet colors – V17, V15 and V12. It’s been awhile since I used anything other than pink and yellow so it was time to switch gears. Sketch Ranunculus stamp set now has coordinating dies available, so I used those and die-cut my images in my Platinum.
Before I started working on my flowers I created a background. I used Simon’s Large Dot stencil (this is also an older product, but a new one for me) and created a glitter dotted background using Texture Paste from Ranger and Glitter Embossing Powder in Shimmering Pearl from Tonic on kraft cardstock. This embossing powder seems to be very similar to Hero Arts Sparkle powder – it adds a nice touch of glitter to heat embossing.
I arranged my images on my background and foam mounted them in place. I used foam adhesive as well as glue (only to adhere leaves).
Finally I added a generous coat of Nudo Drops in Morning Dew to the little colored berries. When I took my photos the Nuvo Drops weren’t completely dry so they appear cloudy, they do dry completely clear.
I foam mounted my 4 x 5 1/4″ panel onto an A2 top folding card base and that finished this card!

Really like how you used the smaller stamps from other set to enhance the older roses & make a grouping!
Have fun at your conferences!
Beautiful bouquet. I love the smaller flowers and stems.
So beautiful Yana, these are both beautiful stamp sets.
I love it when you use older sets too. Always showing new stuff just makes me feel like I always have to have new stuff too even though I have tons of awesome stamps already.
Gorgeous card, Yana! I am looking forward to meeting you at CREATE! Safe travels!
Beautiful card!!
I too appreciate that you use older stamps and stamp sets in your cards… I’m sure there are quite a few fans like me who never comment who are (silently) applauding you as well!
Real life stampers like seeing fresh ideas using stamps in their stash. It’s unrealistic for most of us to be buying new stamps monthly… month after month.
Thank you!
Thank you for your kind explanation on making these gorgeous cards. I got lots of inspiration from your post.
