Simon Says Stamp | Exotic Vines in Black

After I shared my quick tip video featuring Simon’s Exotic Vines 3D embossing folder I couldn’t put the folder down. I wanted to emboss every color of cardstock I could find in my craft room.

I have a thing for dark, rich, dramatic backgrounds, so I reached for black pearl paper I had in my stash to emboss it. The result, as predicted, was amazing.

XOXO – CARD DETAILS

Truth be told I have quite enough Valentine’s Day cards for this year, but I wanted to make another one – just for fun. Recently I shared a video featuring custom sentiments with Spellbinders Alphabet dies and I still had these dies sitting on my desk. I was inspired to use them to die-cut a simple XOXO for this card.

I used Simon’s Matte Gold paper to die cut the letters and also black fun foam (if you don’t have black you can use white and just color the sides of the foam with a black marker).

I added an arrow piercing one of the letters O and a heart below the XOXO. To make the sentiment also an interesting design element I added a pre-printed sentiment strip from Simon separating the two rows of the “XO”.

My embossed background was trimmed to 4 1/4 x 5 1/4″ and foam mounted onto an A2 white card base, so there’s a strip of white showing at the bottom.

I love the way this card turned out and I’m so impressed with the deep embossing this folder gives. I’m thinking it might be my most used embossing folder this year.
