Simon Says Stamp | Copic Colored Poinsettias on Blue Christmas Card

I’ve been stamping a LOT lately. Still very much in the Christmas mood (I even pulled out my Christmas socks to wear today, completely out of the blue, don’t laugh), I’m stamping, die-cutting, and making Christmas cards. And, I’m loving it.

CARD DETAILS

After finishing THIS card, I was inspired by other sentiments in the Holiday Greetings Mix 1 stamp set. I pulled out my Winter Flowers stamp set from Simon (it is an old, but still such a good set) and stamped several poinsettias, flowers, and berries. I used the usual: MISTI and Intense Black ink.

My coloring was done with the following Copic markers: R22, R24, R27, G21, YG63, G94, YG00. I cut the images out with coordinating dies, my plan was to create a floral pattern on a light blue background. I used Hero Arts Mist cardstock, stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink and foam mounted the poinsettias on top. Next, I added leaves using glue and finally added berries using foam adhesive.

I love to create the illusion of falling snow on my cards, so I used my Jane Davenport pens (the give me bigger dots compared to the Sakura White Pens) and added dots of white snow filling the background in. I also embellished the poinsettia centers with Silver jewels from Pretty Pink Posh and added some jewels to the background.

I first planned this card on a black background, but truth be told I didn’t want to heat emboss the sentiment (it had to have been heat embossed in white). What do you think? Would it have looked better on a black background?
