If you know me, you know I love to stamp patterns. Once again I was attempting to sort my stamps (and put Holiday sets away) as I came across the Christmas Cats set. It was probably the most used set in my craft room in the past few weeks/month as I kept reaching for a Santa hat and reindeer antlers to compliment my fish, giraffe and many other Christmas cards.
Well this time I decided to finally stamp the cats and create funny “relationship” cards as I like to call them. There’s probably a better way to describe these, but this is the name I am going with 🙂 .

VIDEO TUTORIAL
I’ve filmed a video tutorial where I am sharing everything in detail. You can watch it below or on my Youtube channel.

CARD DETAILS
I started by creating three 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ panels – one out of Simon’s 120 LB cardstock (love it for Copic coloring!), one out of Fog and one out of Cream (I messed the cream one up). Next I used cats and ball of yarn images from the Christmas Cats set and fish images from the Best Fishes to stamp almost identical patterns (I didn’t use my MISTI, but stamped these using a clear block, so there are some slight variations in each pattern).
Since these ended up being rather busy I only did partial or selective coloring. I didn’t want to color all images here (plus I never have luck coloring cats – they always end up looking rather weird) so I only colored fish and ball of yarn. I used colors from my favorite Copic Colors chart (I am now constantly using it) and colored round-shaped fish using RV14, RV13, V11; oval-shaped fish using YR07, YR04, Y17 and ball of yarn using YG67, YG64 and YG03. I also used R20 to color ears and bellies.
I heat embossed Dreaming of You sentiment in white embossing powder onto black paper; basically the card says that kitties are dreaming about fish. Or if I am the cat and the recipient is the fish I am dreaming about them (I really hope this doesn’t sound creepy or weird, it is meant in the nicest funniest way possible).
Here’s a look at the second card I made with pattern stamped on white (the above one was stamped on Fog). Which one do you like better?

I added googly eyes to the fish in the background to make it even funnier and add some interactivity to this project.
Lastly, I added a cut out fish over the sentiment panel on both projects to complete my cards.

This is adorable!
LOL love the sentiment paired with the cat and fish images, way too funny! The colouring of just the fish and the little bit on the cats is just perfect. Have a lovely day. Cheers Donna Z 🙂
That is so cute! You make the best cards!
This is super fun! I don’t have too many cute little stamps like this but I’m inspired to get a few!
The fish are so, so cute.
Those cards are adorable and funny! I’m never tired of your patterns. You’re saying you did partial coloring cuz were busy, but they turned out so great! I like colorful but not overwhelming look of these patterns.
And your sence of color is perfect!
Me like both cards. I tend to like the fog one more (crazy about this color), but the white has googly eyes!! So cute!
These are darling! I want to make some that are similar because I love these so much!
