Hello and welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video! Today I’m doing partial stenciling to create a masculine birthday card (we can never have too many of those, right?).
I’m using the Big Birthday Stencils Set – this is a fabulous set of 5 stencils to ink blend one large birthday cake to fill an A2 card. I didn’t want to ink blend a full cake, I needed a slightly different cake, a smaller one, so I used only a part of this stencil – the top cake tier.

CARD DETAILS
I ink-blended the cake using Seafoam, Surf, Ocean and Charcoal inks. You need 4 ink colors here as the stencils allow you to add beautiful shading to your cake, you can skip the shading, but I think it is that shading that makes this cake look so unique! And delicious, too!
The stencil set comes with candles to add on top of your cake, I wanted to have different candles on my card – long and skinny. I used a skinny stripe stamp (from the Cotton Candy Wishes stamp set, any skinny stripe stamp would work) to create 5 candles, I simply stamped them in Pearfection ink. Next, I ink-blended the candle flame using Citrine and Honey inks.
To create the sentiment, I stamped “Make it Epic” in Nocturne Black VersaFine Clair ink overlapping part of the cake and added “It’s your birthday” along one of the candles. I also stamped sparkles in Charcoal ink overlapping the candles.
To add texture and pattern to the candles, I used a white pen and drew simple shapes – lines and dots. I trimmed this panel to 3 ¾” x 5” and foam-mounted it onto an A2 Sea Glass card base. Lastly, I embellished my card with Rainbow Splash Drops. Love the result!
