I love abstract art. I can gaze at it for hours! And sometimes, I want my cards to be just like that – abstract. I made this one last night – I just stamped a bunch of colored cardstock panels using Simon’s Waves background stamp, cut the panels apart using scissors (I shared this technique in a video last year, I call it “Color with Paper”) and arranged a light pink and light blue panels to make a sky + sea background.

CARD DETAILS
I actually stamped all sorts of color panels at first (I used a lot of my scrap paper and was stamping jut for fun). I would have never thought to combine this light pink with light blue colors and only did so because the two panels were sitting next to each other on my desk and caught my eye by accident. I love this soft color combination. The blue, this is Surf Blue, makes a lovely ocean and pink, this is Cotton Candy, creates a gorgeous sunset (or sunrise) sky.
I used scissors and cut the blue panel along one of the stamped lines. I adhered it onto pink and next trimmed my abstract background to 3 3/4″ x 5″. I foam mounted it onto a white A2 card base. Someone recently mentioned that they don’t know how big an A2 card is – it is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. I hope this helps!
Next, I stamped a block of “Happy” on Sea Glass cardstock and another block of “You Make Me So Happy” on white using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I cut the first one using the coordinating die and the second one was cut out using scissors as the die isn’t available. I also stamped a sailboat and an anchor from the Your Light stamp set using Simon’s Intense Black ink and colored both using Copics. I used: B00 (water), C7, C5, C3 (boat), RV11, R83, R85 (sail).
I arranged the images so that the anchor drops over the sub sentiment emphasizing it. I also added several sequins from Simon’s April Showers sequin set. I love how this card turned out, I didn’t think it would look good, but I just love this design. I’ll probably re-create it again in the future.
Do you have this background stamp, the Waves? Have you used it this way yet? How have you used it?

Fantastic card. Thank you for the great tips.
Glad you like it 🙂
thank you, Debbie.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your work here, as always, Yana. Thanks for more ideas on how to use that waves stamp from SSS. I have now put it in my cart! I also watched your older video where you use it to be fields, a road, a sky, a lake, etc. using papercutting. SO SMART, you are! You may wish to add the word “it” to the one question in the photo caption just above your supplies list. You ask “Have you used this way?” and I believe you probably meant “Have you used IT this way?” Anyway, excellent job as usual! You are FABULOUSLY talented and don’t let anyone for any reason convince you otherwise!! Take care of yourself!
thank you, Lori! I have another card with this stamp coming to my blog next week. I adore it!
and thanks for noting the missing “it” 🙂 I added it.
Hugs!
I love the card. I always learn a new technique from you.
I’m so glad! Thank you, Marjorie!
Awesome card! Would be a great card for my friend who loves to sail.

I enjoy you and your fabulous blog! TFS!♥

A fantastic card indeed.
So glad you like it, Valerie!
I have not idea how you always come up with such amazing ideas, and then execute them so beautifully. This is beautiful. I don’t have this stamp…. but something tells me it may just find a home here, lol. Thank our, Yana – for all of your incredible inspiration.
