Hello there! I’m thrilled to be a guest on the Picket Fence Studios Blog today sharing my love for cardmaking. One layer cards have seriously became my obsession lately – they are so easy to make and even easier to mail (so a win-win for an avid cardmakers such as myself)! They usually don’t require a ton of supplies (aside from paper, ink and a coloring medium) and you can also get really creative here by coming up with your own unique designs.

CARD DETAILS
Picket Fence Studios has a huge selection of clear stamps and there’s a little bit of everything for everyone! I for example, love big florals, bold sentiments and elements I can incorporate into my projects in a unique and unexpected way.
This led me to my stamp set selection for today – Peony Bouquet has some stunning blooms that are perfect in size to take center stage on a card, Ways To Say Hello features big and bold sentiments and Ice Cream You Scream is just a fun stamp set to play with!
I started making my card by stamping peony in Intense Black ink onto a white 4 ¼ x 5 ½” cardstock panel. I also made a mask for this image, masked it and stamped several leaves. To create something different, I used an ice cream cone image and stamped it under my flower. I love to combine images in unexpected and unique ways and using this flower with the cone was a perfect match in my book!
I used my Copic markers and did very simple 2 color blends coloring. Again, I went outside the “normal” and colored my flower petals using 3 different colors – yellow, pink and teal. Because why not? I used regular greens for the leaves and browns for the ice cream cone.
Here’s a list of Copic markers used:
- Y15, Y17;
- RV21, RV23;
- BG11, GB32;
- YG03, YG25;
- E33, E79
I wanted to create a colorful background for my image, so I used a pencil and freehanded a wonky rectangle with rounded corners. Next, I used a YG01 marker and filled it with color. I opted for a light color here, but you can just as easily color it dark blue, dark green or brown for a lot of contrast.
Once all of my coloring was done I stamped my sentiment in black ink overlapping the cone and coloring in the background. I went with “Bonjour Sweet Lips”. At this point I adhered my panel onto an A2 white card base and embellished my card with sequins from the Happy Hour – Black Russian sequin mix.
I hope you like this card idea and will give it a try! Thanks for joining me today, I’ll see you next time.
