With the snow falling nonstop over the last few days (and nights) I decided to spend my weekend crafting in my craft room. I recently received an order I placed at Simon Says Stamp, I needed to re-stock some colored cardstock, and so I was eager to play. I’ve also been wanting to use the new floral dies from Spellbinders, I find them irresistible – these tiny blooms are so darling and they are just pleading to be used on a card. Several hours later I made this little slimline beauty.

CARD IDEA
I got so carried away I actually made several cards, but I am saving the other projects for some other time (I also filmed a video and I need time to edit it). The idea for this card was to create a colorful floral pattern on a dark background, surrounding a foiled sentiment.
CARD INSTRUCTIONS
Follow these instructions step by step to re-create this card:
- Foil sentiment on Simon Says Stamp Midnight Green cardstock. I used a “You are a wonderful friend” sentiment from my upcoming Blooming Birthdays collection with Spellbinders and foiled it in Matte Gold Foil. Trim panel to 3 1/4″ x 6 1/4″.
- Create a mini slimline card base. Mine measures 3 1/4″ x 6 1/4″; I used some green cardstock from my stash, so the card base isn’t white. Adhere foiled panel onto the front on the card.
- Die-cut flowers and leaves using 2 die sets from Spellbinders: Simply Perfect Layered Blooms and Mini Blooms and Sprigs. I used colored cardstock from my stash to cut these focusing mostly on white, pale yellow, pale pink, and green.
- Assemble the flowers with the help of glue (there are many options as to how the flowers can be assembled, they can be layered in a variety of ways) and use the florals to build a floral card front. Cascade the flowers from the top of the card coming down to the sentiment. I tried to position the flowers and leaves so that I had a 1/4″ border on each side.
- Use jewels as flower centers and to fill in any gaps in the background. This last step really elevates the card design and makes it pop. It adds that wow factor.
I love the dark background used for this card, I think it helps the pale pink and yellow flowers pop. Of course, this card design can be re-created on a white or light background for a much softer look. Have fun crafting!

This card is awe-inspiring from the color choices to the layout. I admire your many expert talents.
Yana, this is stunning! The dark green card the perfect choice for the card panel. And those little die-cut florals are darling. If you can’t get out in the garden this is the next best thing. I took a break from card making for about 2 years and now have begun again. It’s been fun to see all the new trends. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers daily. May the Lord place a hedge of protection around you and your family. <3
