Hello, fellow stampers! I’ve already gifted the card I have for you today and I have to say – it was a hit! I think people enjoy receiving interactive cards the most, some certainly do appreciate the coloring, the design, the concept, all that. But most people enjoy the interactivity the card offers. Somehow it brings out the child-like joy.

CARD IDEA
My idea for this was to use the beautiful greenery in the Winter Songbird stamp set to create a Christmas Tree shape. The greenery in this set is quite unique, it is beautifully designed, I particularly love the curves of the branches and that got me thinking that I could use those images to build myself a custom Christmas tree. I think it is always so much fun to use the images in a different way, not in a way they were intended.
CARD INSTRUCTIONS
Follow these instructions step by step to re-create this card:
- Stamp images from MFT Winter Songbird stamp set onto Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Use mini MISTI stamping tool for ease of stamping.
Some greenery images need to be stamped twice; I’ve found that having 9 or 10 greenery pieces was quite sufficient to build Christmas tree for an A2 card.
- Color images with Copic markers: G21, YG63, and G94 (leaves); E31, E33, and E37 (acorns); R20, R22, R24, and R39 (birds and berries); W1 (shading to any white areas on the birds); YR15 (beaks); RV34, RV11, and RV00 (clothing).
- Use a white Sakura pen to add white dot detail.
- Cut images out with coordinating dies.
- Build Christmas Tree shape using greenery die cuts.
You can layer the shapes if you feel you don’t have enough. The benefit to using the specific greenery pieces, is that the tree is all dressed up. You have not only the greenery itself, you also already have little berries, acorns and flowers – so your tree is all decked out.
- Foam mount tree onto the dark green panel.
- Add birds using mini action wobbles.
I initially picked 3 wobblers, as I wanted all 3 birds to wobble on my card, but I ended up using just 2, for the 2 bottom birds. The top one was a bit too small and the wobbler would have been visible from underneath, so I just used foam adhesive squares to pop that last one up.
- Trim panel to 4 “x 5 1/4”, foam mount to a black A2 card base.
Whenever I used a black card base I get questions about writing a message on the inside of the card. The answer is very simple, you have 2 options, add a white cardstock panel on the inside of the black card and just use your regular pen or get yourself a white or a specialty glitter pen, they work well on dark cardstock.
- Stamp a sentiment, cut it out using a banner die. Foam mount to card.
- Decorate the card by using clear droplets, draw white dots next to the tree, and in-between the branches.
Have fun stamping!

I absolutely do love this project which you have made, as well as many others by fellow crafters using the same Winter Songbirds sets, both of which have been shown extensively during the past 2 to 3 weeks on blog posts. However, I have to say that it is very frustrating for us, the fans and users of these wonderful products, when they are totally and absolutely unavailable and show up as sold out on all stores worldwide! If they are not yet on the market, which could be the case, maybe that could be mentioned, but just to do searching and searching and searching for them and not be able to find them available is a little bit depressing.
Hopefully — Sally Cendral (USA and France).
hello, Sally. I am sorry this set has been sold out and I completely understand your frustration. When I made this card and filmed my video the set was still available for purchase, but by the time I finished my editing it was sold out. I still wanted to share my project and idea as one can use other, similar supplies from ones stash to make a similar card. I don’t know when it will be coming back in stock, but hopefully do. I did sign up to be notified when it is back, and may I suggest you do the same to know when it is back in stock. Big hugs!
Adorable and a great use of those foliage stamps and dies that you think have a one dimensional use. Gee, haven’t made a wobble card in awhile either. HMMMM!
thank you, Patricia! All I want to make now are wobble cards 😀
I love the card design and particularly the color combo you used on the birds. Since we can’t seem to be able to buy this set right now, do you think you could show a card or two that we could use after Christmas for a winter card – maybe a birthday or anniversary type card?
Absolutely! You can easily color the greenery in a slightly different color, arrange it to make a wreath, swap a sentiment for a different occasion and still be able to use this set nearly all year round. I do hope it comes back in stock soon, it is a fabulous set.
This is soooooo Adorable!!!!
glad you like it, thank you Maureen!
