Hero Arts | Need a Cactus Hug?

Ever since we moved to Arizona I am constantly fascinated by the nature and landscape around here. It is so very different from where I grew up, so very beautiful and unique! That being said, I am always looking for ways to incorporate cacti into my handmade cards. Could be a Phoenix thing for me, or it could be a new cacti trend, who knows?

CARD DETAILS

I was sorting through my stamps the other day and came across Merry Cactus to You set from Hero Arts. It is an older set, but yet still a fun one to play with. Since Holiday Season is over I didn’t want to make a Christmas card, yet I wanted to use this set – so I stamped a fun masculine Need a Hug card.

If you’d like to re-create this project, follow these instructions:

• Die-cut Luggage Alpha letters out of white cardstock, stamp Need A Hug using Soft Olive, Soft Brown, Green Ombre and Brown Ombre inks.
• Stamp and die-cut a cactus using same ink colors.
• Arrange sentiment and cactus on a white cardstock panel cut to 4 x 5 1/4″; foam mount pieces in place.
• Stamp additional cacti at the bottom of the panel.
• Use one of the images that looks like grass to stamp grass next to the die cut cactus and sentiment.
• Stamp “You Make Me Smile” using Brown ombre ink.
• Adhere panel on an A2 top folding kraft card base.

You can keep this card flat and postage-friendly if you skip foam adhesive and just adhere die cut letters directly onto the card (or better yet – stamp them directly onto white cardstock panel).

To finish this card, as always, I added several small and medium droplets. I love how I am always able to use these to add little accents to my projects.
