Hero Arts | Color Layering Cardinal Christmas Card

Hello friends! I am almost done unpacking after our move (we moved from Ukraine to US, Phoenix) and I am ready to go back to my usual blogging routine! Lots of projects to be shared, so I better get started.

I made quite a few cards for Hero Arts Holiday 2016 catalog and since the catalog is already live I wanted to share my projects here as well. I love their new Color Laying sets and the Cardinal one is no exception.

COLOR LAYERING CARDINAL – CARD DETAILS

The bird image comes for a new Cardinal Color Layering stamp set from Hero Arts and is very realistic. This is what I really like about Hero’s sets – the realism of their images. I went with a rather unusual color combination – used yellows oranges and just a tiny bit of red.

To stamp the bird use the following colors:

• Butter Bar – bottom layer
• Unicorn White – medium layer (this will mute some of the yellow)
• Fresh Peach – medium layer again
• Strawberry – top layer
• Black – face

Using white pigment ink is very helpful when you are using two colors of ink that are very similar as it helps the top layer to maintain its true color and not blend into bottom layer.

I cut my bird out using scissors, but there is a matching die available. The sentiment, Sending you Christmas cheer, comes from a different set and was stamped in black ink onto a white cardstock panel. I also stamped pine needles in Soft Olive and also created a small flower (on a separate piece of paper) to decorate the bird (I foam mounted my bird onto the panel and also foam mounted the flower).

To create a background for this card I white heat embossed a woodgrain background. My white panel was foam mounted using thin foam adhesive and I also added some red and white bakers twine.

To finish this project I adhered several Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.
