If you haven’t tried foiling with your BetterPress plates yet, you should. If you don’t have a BetterPress system, but already have a hot foiling system like Glimmer, you can get a few BetterPress plates and use them for hot foil stamping – they foil really well, plus the level of detail on these is unbelievable. There’s a new alphabet collection from Spellbinders, Every Occasion Floral Alphabet, it is a BetterPress plates collection, and I used it to create foiled monogram cards I’m sharing in this post.

In a way, this collection is similar to the Stitched Alphabet. Each letter BetterPress plate comes with a sub-sentiment, for example, the letter L can say “L” or “Love You”. The same goes for every other letter in this collection. All letters come without the coordinating dies, only the ampersand includes a die to cut it out, plus sentiments that spell “Happy Birthday & Many More”.

CARDS DETAILS
I paired the letters with non-coordinating sentiments from my stash to create monogram cards. I made cards for my friends and used the letters to match the first letters of their names – A for Anna, H – for Helen, and C for Carol.
I foiled it all in gold foil on Simon Says Stamp #130 cardstock (I love this paper for hot foiling and Copic coloring) and next used the Essential Arches die to cut the panel into an arch shape (I still love this shape for cards – it is so fresh and unique).
I wanted to add flowers under the foiled letter as if flowers were coming from the bottom of the card. I used my still favorite dies – the Club Blooms. I’ve used those for so many projects already, I never get tired of these beauties (see other ideas HERE, HERE, and HERE).
In addition to using Club Blooms, I also used a leaf from the Sealed Bouquet set, I love the shape of that leaf, the flowers from the Sealed Wildflowers, and the tiny leaves from the Mini Blooms & Sprigs set.
The sub-sentiments for these cards come from different sets. The one on the “A” card is a glimmer plate and comes from the Mini Everyday Sentiments (it was cut out using a banner die from the Happy Parents Day glimmer set, but any banner die would do here), and the sub-sentiments on the other cards come from the Always & Forever BetterPress Sentiment Stips set.
The foiled letters have a bit of an open space that can be colored, I did part of my coloring using Copic markers and part using LaPen pens from Marvy Uchida. The latter have a very fine nib (and gorgeously vibrant colors) allowing me to color even the tiniest details.
I also used Opal gems as flower centers and embellished each card with Aura sequins (those helped fill the gaps between the die cuts). I played with different colors and made mostly monochromatic cards – pink, yellow, and coral. I’m listing all the cardstock colors below.
These are fabulous BetterPress plates. Not only can they be used to press with (using different ink colors – there are loads of examples on the Spellbinders website), but can be foiled with. These are available individually and also as a bundle (if you want them all).

oh absolutely! these can be used with other sentiments and other dies and can probably be embossed with embossing folder over the foiling or betterpress – it is a fun set to play with. Enjoy your new goodies! I hope your order ships soon 🙂

What a fabulous video, I love the designs and your great tips too! Using the tape for over-foiling, is awesome!
I’ve found that using a clean plate (with no die cutting marks) for the top of my die cutting sandwich, avoids those cut marks on my paper. But I’m keeping your paper tip in mind.
