Driving to the holidays! Driving to the holidays! I love to use stamps with little vehicles for my projects, for some reason they just speak to me. Whenever hubby and I are driving somewhere we always play the “slug bug” game – usually it’s the hubby of course who spots way more beetles on the road, but we don’t keep score, we just play for fun. That being said, when I saw Flora & Fauna’s Driving to the Holidays stamp set with the little beetle I knew I had to use it to make a card!

CARD DETAILS
I really like Floral & Fauna’s unconventional style – quirky images and fun sentiments bring something new and unique for me to play with. I started working on this card by thinking what kind of scene I wanted to make. I decided to make beetle the center of attention and add various winter and holiday images around it.
After stamping the car and “beep beep” in black ink onto a 4 x 5 1/4″ white cardstock panel I stamped “Joy” using Hero Arts Green Ombre ink. Next, I hand cut a hill mask out of white paper and blended Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink to create a horizon line for my project.
I also stamped something that looks like shadow or melted snow under the wheels of the car using a stamp from the Texture Three stamp set in Simon’s Stone ink and added two Christmas trees stamped in same Green Ombre.
I stamped another car image and a winter hat in VersaFine Onyx Black ink onto a separate piece of paper and heat embossed both in clear embossing powder. Using Copics I quickly colored images to make the hat red and the car green (specific colors are listed below in “Supplies” section).
I cut images out using scissors and foam mounted onto my panel. At the same time I also stamped a string of lights and colored them red.
I added another sub sentiment – “Love, Peace & Holiday” and stamped a tiny red bow. Finally I foam mounted my panel onto an A2 top folding card base and added “falling snow” using Tonic Glitter Accents.
This was a super fun card to make and I love how Clean & Simple it turned out. I might even make a bunch of these to use as this year’s holiday card from our family.
