These days I am so into ink blending! I recently replaced some of my favorite ink pads with brand new, freshly inked ink pads and I seem to have fallen in love with stenciling and ink blending. Today’s video shares several easy ink blended backgrounds made using inks and stencils.

COLORFUL CIRCLES CARD
I used the Circle Masks from Simon Says Stamp to ink blend this background. I overlapped the various size and colors circles to create a continuous background. Ink blended panel was trimmed to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and foam mounted to A2 white card base. I added a circle stamped sentiment from the Greetings Mix 1 stamp set stamped in Versafine Onyx black and embellished with Sparkling Clear Sequins and Small Droplets from Pretty Pink Posh.
COLORFUL HEARTS CARD
I used the Layering Hearts stencil from Simon Says Stamp to ink blend a colorful bokeh-like background. For the sentiment, I used Simon’s Sentiment Strips, cut it out using a banner die, and foam mounted onto the card.
COLORFUL RAYS CARD
I ink blended the background using Simon Says Stamp Slimline Scene Builder stencil. I added strips of gold cardstock to create gold accents. For the sentiment, I used Simon’s Sentiment Strips, cut it out using a banner die, and foam mounted onto the card.

I love your cards!! I love stencils, you can do so many techniques with them and they don’t cost that much AND they’re easy to store and don’t take up that much room!!!

It could be because I was looking at your video on a big screen in my classroom (thank you for a delightful diversion during lunch!!) and I was sitting to one side, but I had a hard time telling that the prefab sentiment on card #1 was not aligned right. It looked OK to me! I think I would call those shapes “elongated trapezoids.” They are parallelograms but not rectangles (rectangles have two pair of parallel lines). Anyway, I tell you this courtesy of a math teacher who walked in while I was eating lunch and watching your video LOL. It’s all good!!
I liked ALL the cards you did. I wish more people would gravitate toward the purples and blues. Maybe it’s just this moment…. every crafter seems to be using yellow/orange/red. I like those but have seen 3-4 videos in 48 hrs with those as the colors featured. No biggie. You often use aquas and pinks.
I continue to marvel at your artistic and linguistic prowess. Wow, are you ever one talented person!!
I don’t know if I can take advantage of the classes you mentioned w/ a free trial. I’ll go back and investigate that at another moment – maybe later today. I agree, everyone seems to be favoring pinks, yellows and peach colors. And I am certainly guilty of that as well. Perhaps because those are easiest to combine? I don’t know. But I agree. I shall try more purples and yellows. And teals and greens. I ordered some Distress Oxides (finally), can’t wait for those to arrive and play, lots of various colors in that package.

I loved these ideas as it takes a one dimensional stencil and creates something totally different. The first card was so awesome with all the angles on it and then the gold thin strips. So professional looking and elegant!

Thank you, June! I agree, it looks easy. I have some set color combo favorites that I know work well together. Like pink + yellow, or teal and yellow, or dark blue and hot pink, or yellow and gray, or yellow and purple. The gold stripes were such an afterthought, but I think I shall be using this trick more in the future.
