Hello! Today I have something very special to share with all of you and I also have a giveaway to thank you for being my loyal subscribers and viewers. There are actually 3 giveaways sponsored by Colorado Craft Company.

Colorado Craft Company is a newer stamp company. I have shared a video and several projects with their products back in July 2019 and I had an absolute blast creating with their stamps. What I love most about their designs is their huge size. The images, especially in their Big & Bold line, are very large and easily take center stage on an A2 card and can readily be used on larger projects.

I have 4 cards to share with you all featuring their new Big & Bold stamp set – Love’s Kiss, this is a new design for January 2020. There are 3 new Big & Bold stamp sets and several other sets releasing this month – you can see all new designs HERE.

These sets are available exclusively at Simon Says Stamp for the first 2 days after the launch, so January 3rd and January 4th, and after that, on January 5th they will also become available on the Colorado Craft Company’s website.

VIDEO TUTORIAL

Watch my video tutorial below or on Youtube to learn how I made the cards I’m sharing today.

BIG & BOLD SETS BY COLORADO CRAFT COMPANY

These stamp sets do have a bit of a higher price point, but they are larger in size and are very practical for those who like to color. Each of the Big & Bold sets features one large size image that easily takes up the entire space of an A2 card and the stamp sets also have a number of coordinating sentiments done in various styles to complement the image.

Because of the size of these images, you have the freedom to really go to town with your favorite coloring mediums and add as many details as you like. You also have a lot of room to dress up your cards with additional mediums and add in more detail with a white pen for example, or glossy accents. If you are not into coloring, the Love’s Kiss is perfect for you as all you need is a couple of ink pads and some embossing powder and you’ve got yourself a classy card for a girlfriend or Valentine’s Day.

CARD DETAILS

I love makeup and when I saw the Love’s Kiss stamp set I got very excited because I knew I would be able to experiment with my ink pads in a different way, in a way as if I was to do my lips.

When you do your lip you’d usually use a pencil to line the lip and the pencil typically is the same color as your lipstick or a shade darker. Sometimes you can also add a bit of lighter lipstick color to the center of the lip or add some gloss on top if you’d like a shiny, glossy lip. With all of this in mind, I looked through my stash to find the best supplies I could use to create a realistic-looking lip on paper.

The first thing that came to mind was ombre ink pads from Hero Arts. They have 3 colors of ink in them – a light, a medium and a dark and work really well with solid images such as these lips. The darkest color would be used around the edge of the lip, the outside edge and the lightest color on the inside.

It is very helpful to use a stamping tool such as MISTI or similar as it will allow you to double or even triple stamp your image in the exact same spot. I used Red ombre for the red lip, Pink ombre for the pink lip, Purple ombre for the purple and Peach for the peach one.

I wanted the lips to appear shiny, glossy and I wanted them to be slightly raised above the background. I was able to achieve this with the help of embossing powder, clear embossing powder.

As with applying the color, I’ve applied the embossing powder, or the gloss, several times to have more shine on the lips. Best to use regular clear embossing powder, not detailed embossing powder as this image is not detailed, it actually needs a chunkier powder for better coverage. Repeat adding gloss 2 to 4 times and heat set the powder each time with your heat tool. The lips will become more and more dimensional with each layer.

The Love’s Kiss stamp set comes with several sentiments, I picked one that reads “A Good Kiss is Worth Another” by Marylin Monroe and stamped it in black ink just below the lips. There’s also a little beauty mark in the stamp set, and I stamped one in Vintage Sepia ink above the lips for some added interest.

If you don’t have these ombre ink pads, you can achieve a similar look using your regular ink pads and just do some layered inking. Watch my video for the how-to.

I trimmed the panels to 4 x 5 1/4” and foam mounted them to A2 white side folding card bases to finish my cards.

  1. Hello Yana,
    Nice work!
I like the bold, simple and artistic design of these stamps. Reminded me of Andy Warhol’s work!
I myself wear different shades of red lipsticks almost every day. So I would have to say the red one is my favorite.
    Many thanks for sharing,
    Karolin

    1. I am thrilled with this stamp and how you used it.
I would actually prefer more nude tones but since you have not used these I use purple, whereby the red is of course extremely attractive.
a really great video and a great guide, I think I will be faithful to you and continue to follow what you show us in 2020.

  2. I like the red lips and the mole was extra special. I like how you showed us 2 different techniques based on the ink pads in our supply to achieve the same look. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

  3. Hi! I really love the oversized images, as it forces me to try to make a simple but stunning card. These new stamps are no exception! As for which colour of lips I prefer, I would say it is the red coloured one. Thank you for sharing your awesome talent and having this great giveaway! Wishing you a very happy New Year, May your dreams come true!

    1. While all of them are beautiful, my favorite are the red ombre lips! I believe Marilyn Monroe, also a Gemini like me, would❤❤❤ agree ❤❤❤ that red lips were her ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤❤ ❤❤❤❤signature color. I ❤❤❤❤ ❤❤❤❤❤❤really love the clear ❤❤❤❤ ❤❤❤embossing you added to ❤❤❤❤❤ make them look glossy. Wow! ❤❤❤ What a statement card…I cannot wait to ❤experiment and make several cards with that big, fat kiss on them! Well done!

  4. Omg I love their big and bold stamps, I just recently discovered them the end of last year!
All the colors you did were awesome and although I love red I’d have to choose pink as my favorite lip color. Coral and my second choice! Tfs I can’t wait to get my hands on a set.

  5. Yana – your cards are fantastic – just LOVE them! A fantastic CAS look with jazz! Any typical lip-color would work, & even maybe some not-so-typical colors. I tend to wear soft reds to pinks – but everyone notices a woman with bright red lips! All four of these new stamp sets from Colorado Craft Co. are wonderful!

  6. Yana, I love the RED lips the best! They look so classic but all of the colors you created are beautiful. And, what a genius way to create “gloss” on the lips. Pretty awesome! Happy New Year. ; )

  7. Love this and like them all. Valentines I’d use red, summertime I’m a pink or peach girl and on wild days I might try purple. If I’m really wild I’d go for teal lipstick. Love gloss or sparkles on everything. Thanks so much for sharing your tips.

  8. I’m already an email subscriber 🙂 I LOVE the purple lips, but there is just something magical about a true red lipstick. If I don’t win that lip stamp, I will be getting it along w/the ice cream cone one. thanks for the giveaway!

  9. Love the way you stamped the cards using red and pink !! It could have looked not so good if not stamped so elegantly ….exactly the way a red lipstick can look gorgeous vs tardy if not used properly !!
Live the stamp sets as well for the size and design !
